    Snell vs ECE.

Which is better? Is one better than the other?

ECE actually is more rigorous, but alot of manufactuers won't bother because you have to send a bunch of helmets in for testing and we have DOT and snell over here. Its a much debated subject, really depends on what your going to be doing. For offroad and even dual sport stuff, I make sure it has MIPS (have plenty of concussions already from military) - for streetbikes and cruisers, MIPS doesn't matter as much.

Found a mint F4I and finally picked it up today - 7k miles. Didn't do it on purpose but I guess I really like red and black as it matches the Dyna. And to thing a year ago I was all team blue. Sometimes I miss that FZ-07 - its initial torque rush was way more than the F4I - until you hit 8K plus in the power band and the F4I is a straight screamer. Hard to beat for $2k. Would still have the FZ-07 if it wasn't so damn small, the damn dirt bike dwarfs it.

 wow that thing looks clean!

lol rule #1 of buying a used bike should be never buy a bike with a fender eliminator kit....

I think a lot of us here would agree that buying the right used bike or car for that matter is very much about finding the right owner/seller, and a bike with all the factory blinkers tells you something.

so of course now go remove those eye soars and :bikewheelie2::bikewheelie2::bikewheelie2::bikewheelie2:

Exactly man, people like that are the best to buy from by far. Bike was extremely well taken care of/not ridden. With that said, definately need to invest $100 and tail tiddy/LED lights all around and get rid of these stock levers. Good god they are like 5 feet long. Getting adjustable clipons or dirt bars for sure after that.

Nice one! You should swap the tail section from an older model with the split seat.

I remember my buddy got a brand new F4i ('01 or '02) senior year of high school. Parents bought it for him, he abused the shit out of that thing eventually making it into a stunt bike and it still wouldn't quit. I'm actually surprised he survived riding the way he used to.

Awesome find. I slacked off on looking for one after I bought the Bolt a couple of weeks ago. Where did you find that gem?

F4i's are actually tanks in disguise.

FUN weekend in Luckenbach, Texas for the 16th annual Harvest Classic! The Yamaha rips and no skin was lost.

Bikes were incredible this year, but as always I didn’t take enough pics.

I have a little knowledge in this respect.

What type of accident do you plan to have? :)

That's my point, there are advantages and disadvantages to each.

Plus folks need to keep in mind ECE helmets in America are different than ECE helmets in the rest for the world. DOT specifications take precedent and some (many) ECE helmets sold in other parts of the world would not pass DOT. A DOT/ECE helmet is different than an ECE helmet only.

Congratulations, Looks like you received a lot of good advice and acted on it correctly.

I have offered advice many times that mirrors your post. Most instructors would prefer to have "blank slates" rather than self or "uncle taught"

Remember you never stop learning and honing your skills.

You define your motorcycling experience, you can make it whatever you want.

I have had my license for 37 years and have made my living in the motorcycle industry for 32. It has been wildly rewarding in both friendships and experiences. I'm blessed and wouldn't change a thing.

Awesome info and thanks much for the advice. I'm very proud that I passed the course (many students in my group did not) and will always keep an open mind to learning more as I go. And, of course, ATGATT.

    Thanks again!
