Just purchased a 2020 sport DCLB

On the highway around 120-130km/h (75-80mph) I get a lot of rumble in the seats and a bit in the steering wheel.
Dealer says tires are balanced and after I took it back they said they put other tires on the rims to see if that helps. Still no better

They say that they think it’s normal ride quality but when I test drove a different truck I didn’t notice it.

Is something wrong with my truck, my tires, or is my Dealer bullshitting me. Or is tacoma highway ride quality really bad?

Could be driveline or out of round drums. Vibration isn't normal.

I recently had a toyota dealer botch a wheel balance so badly that my passenger seat looked like it was going to vibrate loose over 70 mph.

Instead of putting the wheel weights around the rim circumferentially, the put them in a line axially and ran out of room so they had weights hanging off of the inside of the rim.

I'd check wheel balance with someone else.

Definitely abnormal. Drop it off under warranty and get a rental until repaired to your satisfaction.

My taco rides super smooth at high speeds.

Not normal, unless you have like 35s mud terrains of course.

Had similar issue and they had to rebalance and was all good. Bitch to your dealer.

    Good luck.

That isn't normal! Get it checked out with multiple dealerships. You need to find the right service guy.

Is it a sign of a bad dealership If I overheard the service manager say “there’s no point in doing a road force test”? Lol

that is a VERY bad sign.

Well it's a bad sign for the dealership, good sign for your truck. You're likely out of balance and those dimwits don't know how to do it properly.

Take it to Discount tire they generally know how to balance, and they'll do road force too.

Thanks for the support guys. It’s reassuring to know that I’m (probably) not crazy. My dealer said “ well it’s not going to ride like your car” I know that It’s a truck, but there’s no way that a 2020 model vehicle should ride like that.

Booked another appointment at a different dealer, hopefully they are willing to look into it more than my dealer.

My dealer didn’t say they wouldn’t do anything more, but they certainly made it seem like it was in my head and that I was being an inconvenience after giving them $50k + in cash.....

Isn’t this something they should check for me? I’m sure they will never go that far into it.

I will check myself if they don’t get it figure out. After all the truck only has 1000km on it

I actually didn't notice before buying mine new, but once I got on the highway at 65mph it was shaking pretty decently. I figured things needed to settle, so I didn't run back to the dealership right away. Sure enough, after about 100 miles, all the shakes were gone.

my buddy just sold his 19 Limited. It was made in November of 2018. Dealer installed some steering wheel damper, didnt help, then replaced the leaf springs, didnt help, then both rear axles, told them there was nothing else they could do about it and during test drives, they knew it still vibrated. He ended up selling it. Hope they figure yours out. He was bummed, but wasnt going to deal with a vibrating 40 grand truck. His 2nd gen vibrated the whole time he had it since 07 and he said never again.
