Come on that drivel is is spoken like someone that owns a Tesla. The rear drive unit failed and Tesla denied the warranty, but I love the car. The MCU failed #elonmusk I have a model Y on order. I still love my Tesla. The truth is the hype is real with Tacomas, the frame can rust out in six years and people would still buy them because they know some sucker will buy the one with rust for top dollar and deal with the assache of having Toyota swap it.

My 2014 F150 has no frame rust and has been driven in the most shit conditions

Toyota is cheap as fuck when it comes to rust protection. They basically took a play out of the Nissan book and ran with it

2 toyotas with no rust in my driveway isn’t drivel. But the word drivel, is. Only the elderly still use that word.

I just sold this 2008 Tacoma for my Father-in-law. Built 11/2007. Completely stock and never painted or coated.
12 years and 98,000 miles in the rainy Pacific Northwest.

My 2017 had more rust on the suspension, frame and exhaust after just a few months from new.

2008 Tacoma pictures. No salt used on the roads in this area.
I was surprised to see how little rust there was when taking pictures to list it for sale.

Because car and truck bodies were not galvanized back then, and rusted much quicker than frames, since the body steel is much thinner than the thickness of the frame steel.

Who here has a had a Tacoma break in half?

I’m asking because now that I’ve been in a salt state for some time, and having seen my coworkers 2nd gen undercarriage (almost flawless) that he traded in on his 3rd gen, and another coworkers 2nd gen, and 2 3rd gen prerunner, along with my 01 and 3rd gen, plus all the other Toyota’s I’ve known...I’ve never personally seen one of these broke ass trucks. Personally. Feel free to share yours though.

Maybe. I’ve had more exposure to Toyota frames than cancer. Clean your undercarriage.

Who the fuck is going to drive one until it breaks in half? My 1st gen had a full frame replacement because the frame turned into swiss fucking cheese. If Toyota had just spent the extra money on quality control, rust proofing it wouldn't have cost them $13k to replace it.

Tacoma owners = cult and apologists

What the fuck feet. I’m not apologizing on toyotas behalf. I’m simply stating that this issue is mostly 1) full of shit 2) sky is falling full of shit 3) similar to the leaking diff fiasco a la full of shit aka people FREAKING OUT when at the end of the day erryone who owns one is like “yeah my shits just fine”

it’s panic mode. I’m trying to help people get pumped about washing their undercarriages. And to not freak out for nothing. Because that’s what it is. Are you with me?

I drove my 1st gen for 9 years, then sold it for $6k over blue book. Similar experience with my 2nd gen. Zero rust in the pnw. Our experiences couldn't have been more different.

Heads up not everyone lives in an area where rust is not a problem

I see 2nd gen Frontiers here with less frame rust

part of the pre-emptive solution that Toyota is proposing is to only cover vehicles that are in states where cold winters and salt are a problem.

the culprits for the rust cancer are winter salt and chemicals. It's not really a question of subpar steel quality, even the best quality steel will rust when exposed to this crap...

This is why you don't see rust horror stories from the west coast and down south. It is not used, or at least not as much as on the east coast and up here in the north

So if you live in an area where it is used, you have two choices:

    1. Don't drive the vehicle during winter
    2. If you have to drive it, have it rustproofed yearly
