I haven’t heard of any of those things, and it’s best, financially speaking, that I don’t find out while I’ve got a house renovation on the go. My wallet doesn’t need to be any lighter than it already is at the moment. Doesn’t somebody make a supercharger for 2.7L though? You should probably look into that. Lol!

I'm honestly happy with the 2.7 for what it is. The Tacoma is 1500lbs lighter than the Ram and it feels nimble by comparison. I never honestly needed a half ton pickup.
I have done a couple things to make the Tacoma more responsive (drop in dry air filter and secondary charcoal filter removal) but I'm going to have to pass on forced induction lol. I'm curious about the power seats in the new trucks....I wonder if it's hard to swap one of those into mine.

I get where you’re coming from. I had to go the other way, from mid to full size. Went from full time city dweller, to part time country dweller. Hopefully full time country within 10-14 years. Four dogs and 900 miles to the cottage. Do the drive 5-7 times a year. Usually loaded down with stuff. Not heavy, but bulky. Haven’t run out of room yet with the full size. Much quieter, and more comfortable place to spend a 15 hour day on the highway than my old 2nd Gen.

Sounds like we both choose the right tool for the job. You in particular. It’s so easy to go overboard, and buy what you think you need, instead of what actually fits your needs.

I had a 2017 TRD OR 4X4 and was t-boned and totaled. I just replaced it with the same model in 2019 less than two weeks ago. Here's my take on the newer 2019 vs 2017: 2017 had Auto Lights, 2019 doesn't. 2017 had heated front seats, 2019 doesn't. 2017 had sun roof, 2019 doesn't. 2017 AC setup showed digital temp sets, 2019 doesn't. 2017 center console interior was bigger. I know this because the dividers I bought for my 2017 are too big for the 2019 center console. My 2019 came with Blind Spot and Rear Backup and cross traffic alert as did my 2017. Now, granted, the tech packages have changed between those year models, but in my opinion, you got more for your money with the 2017 model. 2017 didn't have TSS, but had it been an option in 2017, I would have passed. But let me just say this: I STILL LOVE MY TACO! So, I'm not bitching, just posting my observations.

It sounds like your ‘17 had premium package and your ‘19 does not....

You're probably right. I honestly didn't look at the specs side by side, but the sticker price was almost identical for both, around $41-42K

    It's complicated.
$41-$42k without premium packages? Is it a "Limited" model?

My 2019 TRD OR DCLB w/ Premium Off-Road & Technology packages was $42k MSRP; $36k OTD.

Looking at my paperwork, there is no mention of "Limited". It was $37.4K OTD which included a leveling kit and BakFlip hard tonneau cover, and the Technology Package, but nothing about "Premium Package".

If I ever messed around with the seat it would be to raise the front too, not enough support under your legs and jacking the back up would make it worse.

19's have the auto lights if you have the premium package, along with a heated seats, sunroof, better audio etc. But with all those other add on's with yours, it makes sense as to why it cost that much lol

20191019_101111.jpg Just traded a 17 SR 4cyl 5speed 4x4 for a 19 offroad and couldnt be more satisfied. Knew going in what to expect with the 6speed auto and diff howl. Truck shifts like it should, never shifts to 4th with cruise on. Does have diff howl but doesn't bother me, 17 SR was worse so not worried. Had a 16 SR 6cyl auto 4x4 4door that had all the TSB done and still shifted like crap. Sold it and found the SR 4cyl 5speed 4x4. Just tired of shifting gears so traded for the 19

Forget the truck - I like your garage! I miss having all that room in my old house.

We are in the same boat. Wife, 2 daughters, and 2 dogs. One male dog for me, and the a-hole wants to sit inside where there is air conditioning. As for as I’m concerned, they can have the house, I’ll keep the man cave w/ a bathroom, kitchenette, and tv.

I bought my 2019 TRD OR, auto, double cab, 4x4, on June 1st. I has about 1600 miles on it and is used mainly for hauling my dirt bike to the mountains and dump runs. I’m averaging 18 - 21 mpg on the highway. I like it a lot but I’m comparing it to my last Toyota truck which was a 2003 Tacoma, 2x4, extra cab, 4 cylinder, SR5, that I drove for 14 years. Haven’t felt the transmission shudder or heard the rear dif howl but I’ll make it a point to listen and feel for those things next time I drive it.

Pretty happy with my purchase. It’s the nicest and most expensive vehicle I’ve ever owned. The 2003 Taco was $15,400 OTD back in April 2003.

I'm flattered that you are using a photo of me driving my son's taco as YOUR avatar, but why? Couldn't send conversation because it is blocked. You don't own a 1ST Gen.
