Any of you guys use VHT night shade with 2k clear coat? I’m wondering if it’ll lift the VHT. I want to coat my third brake light and want a glossy finish.

 

I used 2k on my emblems when I did them all on the 4 runner. I used a GMC color match duplicoat (or whatever its called) spray paint though.

For what it's worth, been awesome and everything looks like the day I painted it over a year later.

 

That’s why I want to use the 2k clear, it holds up really well and gives you a nice, glossy finish. I was looking at a black replacement, but they’re over $100 vs a can of VHT to get the same look.

 

If I had just happened to have used the word penetrate(d) I think it would have been the cherry on top...

What’s up everyone? Haven’t had a chance to post much lately. Work’s been insanely busy and taking most of my time. The Tacoma obsession has reached a new high lol. I put together an early 1st gen Taco, which was supposed to be a trail rig, for my son. He’s since gotten his learners permit and we take it everywhere we go together so he can drive it. The times I’ve taken it, I’ve missed a 1st gen so bad I went and found one for me. I know, crazy right? I’ve got the 2nd gen and a 1st gen. 3 tacos in the driveway. Getting in deep lol

 

Btw, I don’t think it’s come up here, but a huge thank you to @jpereira2. He’s been pretty busy last couple weekends spraying frames. He did a great job.

 

Looks good Dan! For a little over a year we had 3 2nd gens in the driveway. Dad's 2005 DCLB, my 2005 DCSB 6spd daily, and my 2006 reg cab

Just make sure to keep up with the timing belt/water pump on the 3.4l and you'll be set. As well as undercoat it

I didn't realize that you traded the Honda in for this! Were you not using it enough?

 

Yeah and I felt like it was a waste having 2 sports cars. Plus insurance was high, lots of rattles, and being paranoid about taking it anywhere
