Best cold air intakes for 2017 Toyota Tacoma 3.5 ??

Can anyone help looking for 2017 cold air intake for a Toyota Tacoma 3.5 that could help improve my gas Mileage and advise ?

You'll get more performance gains from the sticker that comes with it than the intake itself.

Just picked up my ‘18 dclb sport today. Will be getting the TRD intake this next week. Have one on my 2nd gen and absolutely love it. Paired with the TRD exhaust, the combo sounds perfect. I noticed a difference in throttle response. No difference in fuel economy. Enjoy!

 

A Cold Air Intake is better suited for performance enhancement (the opposite of fuel economy). And, just doing a Cold Air alone will give you negligible increases in performance. To take full advantage of a Cold Air System, you would need to do a complete Stage 1 performance upgrade. IE: Cold Air Intake - Engine Tune / Modifications - Exhaust Modifications. And your fuel economy will go \/ \/ \/.

OP...Right-foot throttle control directly affects your MPG sir. And stock intake already is pulling cooler ambiant air from outside of engine bay through the passenger wheelwell...

 

So really all he would need is a K&N. But really, I don't think the OE system is exactly the same as a true CA intake system. Maybe if you could redesign the airbox and find a smooth plenum? But then, It would probably be easier to just go buy one.

 

If taking intake designs from cars or other tuners, the intake pipe ahead of the airfilter/box would drop near the bottom of the engine or directly front-facing in the airdam/grill...also to add what you already stated to inform OP, more air will naturally require more fuel to burn for the gains in HP but less MPG...but really, there wont be an increase in HP to make a difference...maybe just enough to run the AC compressor without it leeching power from the motor--negating the draw.

 

If you run a K&N put a off road sock on it. They suck dirt and really don’t add HP. Look it up.

 

You get nothing from it on this truck, someone on here ran the truck on the dyno and it made no difference between having a filter and no filter at all.

That is why a good quality CA Intake will try to get it's air from outside the engine bay (front grill or hood). But cooling the air is only part of the job of a CA Intake system. The other part is streamlining the airflow. That is why the plenums are smooth instead of accordion style. And the filter in the air-box is placed in a fashion to allow a direct entry / exit of airflow. And that is why a CA Intake System is completely different than the OE system.

 

Cold air intakes don’t cool the air. The air outside the car is cooler then the hot air around the engine.

Err - ya. That's why a good system will get the supply from "in front of the grill / hood scoup / or somewhere outside "the engine compartment". "The best that they can achieve is "ambient". And like the video above proves, the temperature probably makes very little difference. The streamlining of the airflow (and providing more air) probably makes the most difference.

I can't believe people are still running K&N's. When you can read a newspaper through your air filter, maybe, just maybe, your engine is eating a little more dirt than desirable..
But as mentioned, if you can't fucking help yourself, buy the "sock." I believe they were branded as "Outerwears" by K&N when I was still chasing the dream.

 

I think that's what we're trying to tell the OP. That, and the fact that a CIA "isn't" intended for fuel economy.
