I drove my truck to the parts store so I could work on the shocks for the 4runner.

 

Which ones? 7mgte?

 

I’m curious if there’s any 12 hole injectors out in the wild that fit the 5vz..

 

You see Avalon’s in junkyards? Fuck. I can’t find an 06 to save my life

 

Look like Is300 318cc injectors. Either redrilled by Trd or random person. They run smooth as butter.

 

Up until like 2002 usually. Not as common as camrys but more common than any Toyota SUV or truck.

 

Made a bit more progress on the On Board Air today.

Made a braket to mount it in one of my side boxes.

Plumbed all of the air (Disconnect and pressure switch)

Tomorrow to wire it up and it should be good to go.

 

Anyone know what year they started making the gas cap with plastic line attached to the gas door?
Mine doesn’t have it

 

01 for sure has it.. pretty sure the 98 at work has it too.

 

My 95 and 96 had it

I haven't had to put a tank in my new 96 though, maybe it doesn't....

 

+1, it’s nice having the outter bucket to keep the hub in place to help limp it around if you blew up a front diff

 

Finally cut the bolts holding my bed on the truck. Got the new ones from McMaster but need bigger washers for them.



I thought I would have been able to prep it for POR15 quickly but it ended up taking all day. Also needed to remove the rear bumper and ended up snapping a bolt off. There was flaky rust on all the usual spots, I wish they made the frame re-enforcements better so the water drained instead of pooling inside.





Then I needed to replace the lower ball joints as the boots were leaking.

And all installed.



After removing the LBJ I checked one side and didn't feel any play in it, but I wanted to have the peace of mind that it was good for another 100k miles or so. I bought some outer tie rods to do as well but didn't have a large enough box end wrench to replace it. I'll have to order a 27? and 28? Not sure of the exact size yet.

Also realized I will still need to spray fluid film as I can't POR15 inside the frame, so that's on its way to me as well. So far this is the most progress I've made in one day.

 

the jam nut should be a 27mm

 

Removed the tire carrier and cut the mount off the bumper yesterday so I can start putting a new one together. Wasn't happy with the heim joints for the pivot, they allowed the tire carier to lean away from the tailgate too much, regardless of how I adjusted them. Got a nice double shear spindle type mount from 4xInnovations that is going on instead.

 

That style spindle you mention is how we've rocked our 35"E rated spare on a bumper/carrier. Spindle is stout. Slee and 4x4Labs, etc.and other big boy bumper makers use those too

 

i don't think this locks from the outside the fuel door
i just throw the cap on the top of wheel well in the bed during fillup, even on top of ice and snow piles in the winter

 

My 98 2wd doesn’t have it. Idk if it was broke before I got it
