Once the biblical rains stopped, it took about an hour to install. Thank you Redline for the Group Buy and the fast service. Crutchfield should have a GB before Xmas right? :)

I like 'em, but I bought mine 2 days b4 the sale.

When installing I ran into a little prob where one fender hole was off enough to require a bigger hole and screw. Now it's stripping out and the bracket is loose. I see by the OP's pics the new brackets have 3 holes. Wish mine did. I'd hate to drill a 3rd hole and mess things up even worse. I wrote RL about it. Any ideas?

Seems in this case a bracket with an extended vertical leg with 2 more screw holes would fix this and make the whole thing stiffer. Currently there's a lot of flex on the brackets.

Another thing I noticed, unless my hood is warped, the L & R struts don't lift to the same height. Nor do they lift high enough to use the prop rod if needed. Is this normal?

In the pics I see there are two holes in each bracket , mine had two holes each. And yes your drilling needs to be spot on. You could always use a zirk nuts and bolts.

... or for another vehicle, maybe. Oh well, guess it's drilling time.

Maybe a rivnut will save the day.

They use different mounting schemes depending on the vehicle. Some kits use rivets and some use self tapping screws; the number of fasteners is also different. What you encountered is the downside of self tapping screws (I prefer rivets for that reason).

The rivnut suggestion is a good one, if you have access to a rivnut tool. Another option is to find an oversize self tapping screw. Or you can drill a new hole through bracket and fender for the self tapping screw or a rivet. It won't be pretty, but should work.

As for the height unevenness, that's likely due to measurement error in locating the brackets. Not much you can do at this point short of relocating brackets. Although depending on how far off the heights are, you may be able to relocate the bracket with the stripped screw to kill two birds with one stone - fix the height unevenness, and have fresh metal to drill new holes into.

The height diff is miniscule, just enough for OCD types to notice so no chance of relocating. As for measurements, they were checked 1/2 a dozen times and are spot on both sides. Truck itself may have body alignment issues as I bought it used and found the front support bar (bumper) was bent by hitting another vehicle's ball hitch.

That's what I did, thus the problem. If they're compatible, I don't suppose I could obtain a couple 3 hole mounts from you guys??!?

I like the added lift your (Spiker) struts have over these. Mine won't open enough to use the prop rod w/o removing the struts.

That makes sense. We recommend a different installation technique for that exact reason, to avoid this kind of issue. Hopefully you can get happy with the slight misalignment.

I'd see if Redline can help you out, as it's tricky mixing kits. We do have a three hole 90 deg bracket, which we use for the 1st Gen Tacos, but they're a little dicey to use on the 2nd Gen (I've done it, but I prefer the two hole wider bracket that we supply for 2nd Gens).

The high lift struts have been wildly popular, it's night and day compared to stock height. You could use them with your install, but you'd most likely have to drill new hood bracket holes. Or not, it depends on how high you want the hood to open, they actually may end up being drop in for the current brackets, but would raise the hood higher. PM me if you have more questions, I don't want to derail this thread too much.
