Christmas in September

Got home from work today to find this stuff. Naturally I had to unpack all the boxes and take a pic.



It's the complete Ol' Man Emu kit with 885 springs, Nitrocharger shocks, Dakar leafs, and the front struts preassembled by Wheelers Offroad.

The springs were by themselves on the porch. Wife said: "I brought in the boxes, and started to bring in the springs, but decided to leave them for you." Those mofos weigh 71 lbs each!!

Upgraded brake line installation is first up on the agenda, scheduled for this Sunday with my 7 yr old daughter helping me out. I was on the fence about farming that job out to my repair shop, but then I realized how much of a kick she'd get out of helping to bleed the brakes. "Now press the pedal and hold...."

 

Good call on the ome leaf packs. I had the AAL setup and than went to the ome...holy crap, it was like going from a hyndai to a lexus

Whats the finished lift height and how much that kit run ya with all those options if you don't mind me asking.

 

Are you serious? the AAL is really that crappy compared to just getting a new leaf pack? shitttt i just ordered billys and an aal. lol

 

lol, yea it is really f'n crappy, whats worse is that every 4k i would have to adjust the aal because it was moving out of alignment with the rest of the pack and causing crazy noise. I wished i would have saved the coin and went straight to the $$ leaf pack. I didnt pull any leafes though, so i have the full pack

 

Single leaf or 3-leaf?

 

I'll measure actual height after it's installed. But remember, I have a regular cab that weighs 300lbs left than an access cab on paper - and mine's a stripper with hand crank windows. So my actual weight's probably more like 450lbs less than your typical taco that gets a lift put on it.

My invoice was for about $1500 including shipping. But you could save some bucks by skipping the brake lines (at least in the front) and not having wheelers build the fronts into a complete coilover strut assembly. They charge 225 parts and labor for that. Here's the price list: I had them assemble the struts for three reasons:

1. saves me from having to track down a sturdy enough spring compressor or doing part of the job during the regular work week

2. assembly will go faster - hopefully I can knock off the springs/shocks in a single day if I start early enough in the morning

3. Stock springs and shocks stay assembled as a coilover, just in case I need to reverse my work for some reason (though I think I've covered my bases pretty well and I'm not planning to have to do that.)

 

I have the ome which is what, 5-6 leafes plus the overloads. Stock, i was running the non gen 2 spings w/ non tsb aal. I had my aal from my toytec ulk

 

That's awesome! I wish I would have spent the extra money and went with the dakar leaf pack also..

$200 seems like a rip-off for assembly. i had Midas put mine together for $40 ($20 per strut) then installed them myself at home.

 

So how much was this nice little kit you got, if i may ask?
