So they don't drill those nastyass holes in the front bumper.

 

I'd assume if your state doesn't require front plates, they wouldn't. And if they are required, there aren't really any other options, are there? Or you just run with no front plate even though you are supposed to?

 

So legally in the great state of CT, front plates are required but is hardly ever enforced - the common sense rule applies: if you aren't an asshole, don't have deeply tinted windows or a clapped out car, you will be fine. However, I am going to have the front plate drilled and run my gold and black Sikorsky black hawk plate to give the appearance of a front plate - I've also had that plate for the better part of 30 years (even before I had a license!)

 

AFAIK my state has the legally mandated front plate requirement. I run a front plate. None of this means the dealer has to use terrible oversize drill bit and excess force and heat the plastic up and pooch the holes out. They are not required by law to drill those holes. I get it some people can't do it themselves. Plus the terrible black box provided by Toyota. Uck.

I have a Cement in CT, they drilled the plate holes and I said fuck it and put the bumper plugs in. Bumper plugs are factory color matched, super easy to install. The one catch is make sure you contact the company prior to buying. Yota decided to use a "trim" color thats slightly different then the body color, hardly noticeable unless you get the Cement Grey bumper plugs and notice they're slightly darker then the trim lol That being said, I also have 5% window tints all around soooooo lol still no issue.

In the northeast and other such areas where sun and heat aren't really an issue, what is the point of tinted windows? Is it just to match the back? I don't know, I'm getting older but when I see a car with tinted windows it just looks tacky.

 

I did mine to protect the leather, but I live in the Deep South and it gets hot.

 

It still gets hot af and the sun still damages interiors in the summer up north too. Lol
