If your trying to get better fuel economy - definitely skip it. If your trying to increase HP - ehhh. Either way, this thread should prove that there are better thing to spend money on.

If you are a DIY type guy, i have a good recommendation.

Just pick it up at local construction site, and you are good to go.

It sounds amazing plus you get better performance.

Does the TRD CAI sound significantly better than stock? Don't care about performance, I just like a nice sound. The enclosed design looks like it might mute any sound improvements?

Maaaaybe a slighty more "burly" exhaust tone even when just using the TRD branded filter.

Absolutely improves sound. It’s louder. But not overbearing.

I run a scangauge that reads the intake air temperature. The intake temp generally runs about 10 degrees Fahrenheit more than the ambient air temperature as measured by thermometer on my mirror. So ask yourself...does your truck perform better at 75 degrees than it does at 85 degrees?

So from looking cool or sounding cool perspective maybe...from a performance / efficiency standpoint I can't see it.

Don’t forget the CA chintache. Installs in about as much time as a reading of the Hen. Findable in TW user trashcans nationwide.

What’s the point of the search function when every CAI thread consists of a bunch of DBs talking about how a “CAI” is a waste of money and no one gets any real answers to the questions. Funny how a $300 air intake is a “waste of money” even when the guy buying it just wants it for the sound. And that’s cool. I see mall crawlers all the time with king suspension and 33s/35s, light bars, rock sliders, you name it.. Cuz the dude thinks it looks cool. Tell me what’s a waste of f*ckin money......?

I’m a former Toyota mechanic, engine builder, an actual tacoma enthusiast, not just a follower or shit talker. And I’ve personally put intakes on my tacomas. I’ve owned a few. And they without a doubt sound better and more throaty, and increase throttle response. Idgaf if it adds power or not. Who says that’s why people are buying them anyways?...

Too many forum whores on here. What a joke. Have enough time in their day to read the thread and reply with “does the search function not work anymore”.

Be nice to actually find someone on here that wants to learn or help someone out.

Someone point me in the direction of an air in take that improves sound. I already have a pretty deep exhaust.

looking for a little extra for my mall crawler.
