Preferred tonneau cover. I have an option to get at a great price $350.00 a Extang Solid Fold in great shape local buy. But with a 2 to 4 hour trip a few OEM Tacoma SB Tonneau covers are available. Right now I have a few months old TruXedo Truxport soft cover that is OK but not my favorite.

Do you need it. If so get one. I’ve never needed one so I don’t have one. Pretty much my opinion on most things.

Factory ones leak alot but you can lay on them, or stand on the edges. Though that further ruins the seal

The Solid Fold is worth 2x that price. It's a steal.

Yes I agree but OEM is twice as strong and I think better made. I think that will be the choice.

I get a little wet at the edge of the tailgate but since put a small rubber seal and now it's dry. I think the factory one looks the best. Works for me, plus I never use the bed area that much.

I agree and tomorrow I will be picking up a OEM to replace the soft cover. I think security is better since I also use it as storage on trips. Plus looking at how the Extang hooks up to the bed compared with the OEM it's no contest. I guess we all wish Toyota would sell them as an accessory.

Oh, also, the bedsides aren’t sealed, so if the tires are kicking up water it’ll come in through the top of that, where the seam is. ‘Especially on the 19s missing that driverside cubby

I got a Tyger trifold for about $125. It’s been on, removed, or folded several times and it’s still going strong. It’s also a soft top but if you lock the tailgate it offers some little bit of security as you can only access the latches from underneath.

for $125 it’s good in a pinch when all you really need is a covering to keep the honest people honest.

Compare locking systems but both look good on.

I've had my G4 Elite Fold A Cover for almost a year, it's been great, very solid and hardly any water intrusion.

I like to have some security on the truck bed since I take it on my trips to Florida and make a few stops. The soft cover I have was great (TruXedo Truxport soft cover) as a temporary since the last time I drove to FL I hit torrential rain but got very little water in the bed.

I bought a cheap ass tyger and it works for me. Rain gets in a little but I'm ok with it. I hear the extangs are good. 2-4 hours though? Kinda far haha.

Security of a hard cover is a plus. I'm pulling the trigger soon on a Tyger soft tri-fold to run in winter. Like the idea of keeping the bed/contents somewhat dry. Youngest son has had one on his Colorado for several years, no probs. Run about $220 IIRC. Can't justify the price of a hard cover, my use is seasonal.

OK I pulled the trigger and picked up from a fellow TW member a OEM cover and I am thrilled with the buy. Not to far to go one hour drive met in the middle and all went smooth20191020_112209.jpg .

I think I bought mine for $125ish. Bought it in February. It’s still looking good and functional. Best bang for the buck. Granted it doesn’t fit as good as an OEM or quality manufacturers do, but it does keep a majority of the rain and dirt out.
