I love that people are advocating a company provide less information. Because they're fan boys.

For my purposes I'd just like to have a better idea of what I'm getting before I get it. Especially for DCLB sliders since DCSB are dime a dozen and it's harder to find information on LBs.

Plenty of people have admitted that RCI could have better pictures.

But OPs first post claims he felt deceived, which many of us are calling foul. There was no deception, op just didn't do his homework.

If you look at a picture of a product, and say "hmm, I want a better angle", does it not make sense to send them an email instead of buying and installing them?

Just measured my BAMF sliders they're 80.2 inches long and only 1 of the 4 corners has a single scratch within 3 inches of the end all the rest start 6-12 inches from the end of the slider. Know your truck, know your protection, know your obstacle.

People from a mainstream consumer mentality aren’t used to dealing with batch production fabrication and small operations. They assume what they assume based on preconceived notions about a product, and they want 30 different views of it as if it is being sold on Amazon. In this world, things vary wildly from one company to another, from websites and site layout, to photos, fabrication and finishing. You would have to have spent some time in this subculture to understand the feel of the market. Which is why this thread is a strong indicator of OPs experience, expectations, and reactions.

I didn't have a choice.... the fabricator insisted on installing his own product. :D

Had I been in OPs position, I can't claim I wouldn't have overlooked that particular aspect of the design.

But I also wouldn't try to blame the manufacturer. They'd probably get a politely worded email about picture quality and perhaps a return. But there would have been no post on TW unless things went really pear shaped. Best be certain in the court of public opinion, forums especially (especially if that forum is something like Pirate. This place is tame....)

TW is quite tolerable using the “ignore” member feature

FLAT out wrong! I wished the OP had made this post a couple of months ago, it might have saved my truck and saved me some money.

For those of you that say the sliders should have been researched- part of the problem here is the the short sliders seem to be near an industry standard. And out of the numerous photos/videos I looked at, nothing indicated that sliders were that short except in the front. I eliminated companies that had few, no photos, or photos to small to discern what my money would go for. Poor descriptions helped to eliminate several other companies especially when they did not answer my emails.

This should not be a buyer beware market. Great marketing makes it very clear about all aspects of their products, and this is significantly lacking in the off road industry.

I hope that others looking to buy sliders come across this thread, so they would know of what to look for.

Of course. It’s easy to overlook when you don’t know what you don’t know. And to post a thread on it is ok too. But OP got solid feedback, yet continues to blame the fab shop, and so here we are.

Wow, those RCI sliders are short.

    Website says “
    • Protects rocker panels and doors

    Not so much.

And this is why I would hesitate to ever offer a product. I'm an engineer. I solder things and program things. I have ideas for truck related products, but a small business would likely be just me.

In write well, but my marketing skills are non-existent and I would have to deal with customers with expectations tuned by companies with thousands of times my resources.

I have serious admiration for anyone successfully making products for sale in a small market like this.

A real Engineer requires state licensing and liability insurance.
