alright, i'm in a little bit of a bind. I have coil overs in front with tc UCA and am running 33'' KM2 MTs. With the increased articulation off roading, the tires come up and rub like crazy on the top of the wheel wells. I've hit hard enough to where i've broken the clips on my fenders and my right fender doesn't even have the trim anymore.

So i'm in the process of getting glassworks fenders put on and a front skidplate set up fab'd. The only problem is with the fenders, even though its only a 3'' flare, will stick out over my tires and i'm pretty sure its going to look gay.

So i'm looking into spacers, only 1.25's is as big as i'll go. I know the big problem with spacers breaking is the studs break because they aren't designed to handle that kind of stress. This is a big problem seeing as i like to push it off roading pretty hard and i can't afford to have a wheel snap off and possibly total my a-b driver.

Are there any solutions to this problem other than just not running spacers?

Sounds like your tires are too big for the amount of lift you have.

Have you thought about going with a bigger suspension lift?

If a different suspension lift is out of the question...and I don't normally recommend this but in your situaiton...a body lift would also help.

And what about your lower control arm bump stops? Do they make extended bump stops for the lower control arms?

Spidertrax spacers are the way to go. My friend has spidertrax spacers on his taco and 33inch km2s, he wheels the shit out of his truck and goes atleast once a week. Dont go cheap when It comes to spacers imo so go with spidertrax 1.25 I had them on my truck for a bit they were awesome.

i was back up in la for the summer but now im back in sd, we need to go wheeling and i still need a cb tune haha

and who is james and where's the truck shop

you mean offset as in backspacing? i'm already running a 4.5'' backspace rim.
i have cv boots in front, so i don't have an option of getting spindles or cranking the c/o's higher.

can i somehow get longer studs?

if i got spacers i would get spidertraxx

i'm just worried that if i hit a big enough bump....like the one i hit a month ago and broke my steering shaft, that i wouldn't be driving away with lets say, all 4 wheels.

This is him climbing some big ass rocks or whatever. The black skid marks on the far right is where he started from. They seem to do the job man. GOod luck.

Yes, I'm aware that you have CV joints.

Did you consider a body lift?

Did you conisder getting a bigger lift? There are 4 & 6" lifts available for tacomas. Search google.

Why would you want longer studs? Longer studs are going to be weaker and will break easier than short ones.

tacotron, thats just hill climbing, my concerns are pre-running

and a body lift or a 4/6'' lift are both out of the question, i'd rather save that money up for a LT kit

I have been fine so far. What about going with smaller glass then.

You could get longer bumpstops to the LCA to limit the amount of upward wheel travel.

I'm happy with my Spidertraxx spacers if you go that route. They're plenty strong for a 33" tire.

Spidertrax spacers are awesome but dude I don't know if i'd run em or not. It sounds like you and I like the same type of off roading...I'd just get the glass works flares and call it good for now...don't buy wheel spacers cause it might jeopardize things! Save you loot for a LT kit :)

    I don't think it'll look gay

i know a couple LT trucks running wheel spacers, and a number of our LT truck builds use longer wheel studs with no issues...

there aren't many other options for glass, just glass works and fiberwerx, the latter of which looks sick but has way to big of flares.

how would i got about obtaining longer wheels studs, wouldn't that be a custom fab?
