Put simply... if you as a conference want to prevent your lesser team getting in... adjust your schedule accordingly.

First way to do it is to eliminate "divisions" and play a rotating schedule where you assure every team plays on a regular basis and send your top 2 teams to the championship ( kinda like the Big XII)

This way you wont have a Pitt or SCe sneaking into your championship game.

Would you do an 8 game conference schedule or do what the pac 12 does and have a 9 game conference schedule?

Like I said in a previous post... 9 conference and 3 OOC:
1 tune up with an FBS opponent
    1 rival game (ex. FL/FSU or IA/ISU)
1 premier game (like a kickoff game or like OU/AL mash up)

Set up a schedule like this and it'll be hard to argue you're fielding the TOP teams in a playoff.

The problem with that is you might just get a Pitt or ASU competing for a national championship if they're good enough instead of a usual suspect you can get top dollar for by plugging relentlessly all season as the best team.

Fuck the mothership. They own too many things, but I guess that’s what happens when you gotta fill 7 channels with 24 hour programming.

And this is why I say so long as they control the playoff system you are gonna have the teams THEY want playing for a national championship.

my internet is acting up so wasn’t sure if the link worked or if it was my internet. Can’t find my way back to try again.
Anyway it was a ref spotting the ball for Bama with his back to the first down marker. He clearly looked back at the marker and then moved his foot up to match before placing the ball, while a couple of the Bama staffers had money edited in that they dropped at his feet.

I'm not really sure about this whole concept of teams "sneaking in" to conference championship games.....

If you win your division, you're the best team in that division. If you go on to win the conference champion against the other divisions best, well then you're the best in the conference.

CFB only plays so many damn games. If they played each other 3 or 4 times a year, you could get much closer to a definitive "best" in the divisions and conference. They dont. So that's a moot point.

What makes CFB great is that anything can happen. UGA vs USCe, UT vs. Georgia State, etc.

Its a "win or lose" situation.

Y'all keep clamoring for extended opportunities. "Lets have 128 team playoff, fuck it. Because team "X" accidentally lost to team "Z" and it was an audacious upset that would only happen 1 time out of 1000....." Well...guess what....shit happens.

They way they pick the "best" teams isn't perfect. It honestly isnt really even great. Its good, at best. Humans are invovled, shits gonna be messy. When humans werent involved, everyone complained.

Maybe they should simply go back to having the BCS system pick the top 4 teams. This may cause teams and conferences to change how they schedule....since strength of schedule isnt really a consideration. (That seems to be the most common complaint about Alabama, weak schedule...)

    It's an outlier, for now.

People need to understand that this committee has to consider setting precedence. Now they can go back to a Ohio State or even a Clemson if they lose to Syracuse or UNC and still put them in if they are one of the 4 best.

If the committee had left Alabama out, then they set a precedence of simply putting in the top undefeated teams. (of which there werent, so....) That decision would have made the committee more rigid in future decision making.

TCU got HOSED. HOOOOOOOOSED that first year. I think the committee regrets that. I think that influenced putting Alabama in. (Not that I agree with it...)

I'm still a firm believer in conference champs get in. Move it to 6 team play off, MAX.

5 P5 conference champs (with the ability to leave one out if you have a conference champ with 2 or 3 losses....(somehow). Defer to record if needed. Then you have 1 at large which could be reserved for teams like UCF or the like.....or, a team like Alabama that had an unfortunate loss.

Or, let the unemotional computers rank the top 4 teams in the nation and stuff them in the bracket. Done.

Honestly it doesn't matter what they do, people will always be pissed off and want more teams in it. There's no perfect system someone will always get left out and a fan base will cry. Don't want to get left out? Win all your games plain and simple..oh and don't have "co-champions" lol

Hail State! I'm sorry for whomever thinks Clemson is gonna win this year they're wrong. Alabama will win and Trevor Lawrence is figured out and looks horrid this year. I will go ahead and call the 4 teams in the playoffs: #1 Alabama, #2 Ohio State, #3 Clemson and #4 Oklahoma. LSU is hell of a team but I think when they play Alabama they will fall on there face and have that as there only loss this year! Georgia is a skeleton of themselves over the last 2 years and can't figure it out. My team Mississippi Sate handled Kentucky better with a true Freshman Garrett Schrader!
