OMG ! What are they smoking.. I heard there was a lot of markup on them down south, but I never thought it would be that much.

Damn, you guys are paying more for a mid-size truck than better equipped full size trucks with a V8.

I know people think they are getting exceptional value with a Toyota but if you’re getting only 10% off sticker (sometimes worse) vs a full size truck at 20%, that argument goes out the window.

I have owned a couple of Tacomas many years ago but my growing family forced me to a full sized truck. Now that my family is much older, my needs are simpler and I’m thinking about getting back into a Tacoma but when you place a full size next to a Tacoma for the same price....that is a difficult decision. Disappointing to be honest for someone looking at a Tacoma as a future candidate.

My $51,000 GMC 2 years old with 20K miles was worth $30,000 . My 17 Tacoma P and T 15K miles is worth $31,000 and it was $37,000 new . So buy what you want but a Tacoma is a good choice .

Depends on what you want. They cost what they cost. You’re basically saying that anyone that buys a mid-size is settling for less than a full sized pick up as opposed to getting what they want - which is ludicrous.

Some people don’t want a full sized truck at any price. Me for instance. If I’d wanted one I would've just kept my tundra or bought a new one instead of my Taco.

Edited to add: You’re comparing apples and oranges. The price of one has nothing to do with the other.

It’s like comparing a hamburger to a plate of meat loaf and bitching about the price of the burger because the meat loaf comes with mashed potatoes, gravy and a salad as well.

Technically true, but maybe you don’t want all that shit and just prefer a burger...

You sound offended, not the intent of my post. When you compare feature for feature, option for option, the Toyota’s cost more at this point. To use your reference, it’s like ordering a 1/4 pound burger with all the fixings and the person next to you getting the 1/2 pound burger with all of the fixings for the same price.

Don’t anyone take me wrong, I am not knocking a Tacoma, I just can’t believe the pricing. I think they are taking the “value” out of their product with their recent pricing.

My first ever Tacoma and first ever brand new car!

Closed last night. Truck arrived yesterday morning, and when I went in around 7pm it hadn’t been inspected yet. So they finished all that up and I was able to bring it home with 5 miles on the Odometer.

    2020 Off-Road - Cement - Long Bed
    - A/T
    -Tech Package
    -Premium Off Road Package
    -Gladstone Green Car Package
    -Roof Rack
    -Predator Tube Steps
    -Bed Mat
    -TRD shift knob
    -Mud Flaps
    -Blackout Emblems
    -Bed Cleats

    OTD - $45,797.50

Dealer will install all accessories sometime this week.

Really excited about this truck. Though the mods will be slow and nothing too crazy, I have my dream truck now and plan to keep it forever.

Will also be getting front windows tinted sometime this week.

Congrats! My Mag Grey Pro is a little over a week old. I was lucky that 2 dealers about 50 miles apart had the exact some 2020 Mag Grey Pro in stock and was able to use them to negotiate against the other.

Walked away from 2020 OR DCSB in Cement, damn it was nice. Main packages were tech ($770) LED headlights ($485) and climate/audio ($2,415). MSRP was $41,950, got the dealer down to $40,250 before leaving. I really only want the tech packaged and LED highlights, didn't want to pay that much extra for dual zone climate and premium audio. I have a couple questions though, maybe someone here has some experience.

1st, When trading in your current truck, has anyone been able to get the dealer to swap your wheels/tires with the new truck you're buying? I'm trading in my '14 SR5 2wd/4cyl Tacoma but it has KO2s and the black TRD rims. I'd like to put them on my new truck but dealers haven't been open to swapping them. I get it might lower the trade in value of my truck ($19,000 from Carmax) but I figure it's a wash as the tires are halfway through their tread life. I actually don't mind the new stock OR wheels, but I'd rather not buy new off road tires right away.

2nd, I wasn't aware that your tax rate is based on your home address and not the address of the dealership. Can anyone confirm if this is true? I'm in California but my county's tax rate is 9.75%. The county of the dealership I went to today's rate is 7.25%, but they were still quoting me with my 9.75% rate.. is this normal?

That’s right. You’re taxed based on where the truck will be registered.

If you live in CA, I suggest bringing lube or WD40 because tax will rape you. Gotta pay to play around these hoods...
