were they black chrome to begin with?

 

galvanic is from dissimilar metals. you just have standard oxidation aluminum goes through.

 

original lug nuts on all toyotas are hard chrome. either capped or chromed without a cap. no black chrome

Yea, the rim sticks to the brake rotor and can make it a bitch to get off

 

Should of had them nitrated

Get them anodized

 

you can see here in spots where my wash mitt poked through to clean from the outside
i suppose i messed up and did not take my wheels off every time i washed my truck by hand lol

 

have the sand blasted and powder coated. it'll hold up well. and put a sealant on them every few months they'll look new for years to come.

 

mine were black somehow, that is what capped means?

 

i did check with the local powder coater and its big bucks to just blast and powder one side

Anodizing is better for aluminum in high traffic areas where the coating is subject to physical abuse & abrasive cleaners. Anodizing cannot peel off. The coating is actually part of the metal. Anodizing gives aluminum a deeper, richer metallic appearance than is possible with powder coatings.

 

And you can do different colors! Plus if you wanted to you can set it up at home

 

No. Capped are still chrome.
Their the ones that swell and get stuck in sockets

 

Center lock wheels>

 

If you don’t use lug nuts you don’t have this problem
