My rottie I had used to this when she was a young dog. Maybe a year or so.. she would run around me as fast as she could then Juno up and hit me in the chest with her head... until she caught a knee in hers when she jumped up. She stopped doing it after that.

Stubborn rotties.. she would try a few times to assert herself as pack leader. But she learned that the humans rule the house not the dog.

She was taught to sit before going in or out of the house and wait for the humans to go through first.

To sit at the crosswalk and wait for permission to cross the road. That one proved very useful the day she bolted out the door on my dad. He found her ar the end of the street sitting waiting for permission to cross the road lol.



And she loved to BBQ always had to be there everytime. Just asking her if we should fire the pit up. She would get super excited..

 

I can't read enough about people and their dogs that take the training serious. People need to learn that the human needs trained 1st, then training the dog comes easy.

 

Going through all of that with my puppy. The cute little psycho climbs trees.

Anyone still use the tin can with the pennies inside to help get a puppies attention?

A stern NO! while throwing the can at the floor startles them and gets their attention. I think the rattling of the pennies hurts their ears as well.

After a bit of reinforcement, they see you pick up the can off the counter and they'll pay attention.
