Any ideas on how to best glue interior hooks to the topper? I have tracks for my rack, but the previous owner installed them and cut the bolts so short (plus with the plastic caps) I can't get a socket around the nut to add a hook.

I'm trying to figure out if I can use liquid nails or something to add a few wood studs in order to secure some hooks. Any thoughts?

I haven't done this myself but I have glued lots of things in my time. West system makes some nice 2 part g-flex epoxies that aren't too pricey and would probably provide a pretty good bond to fiberglass. PL or liquids nails would probably work too and have better void filling properties than west system (I'd check bonding properties to fiberglass). For both products make sure you apply good clamping pressure. If topper is installed on truck you can get the pieces in place and then wedge some 2X's between that piece and the truck bed to provide clamping pressure (and don't plan on taking them down without some of the cap fiberglass coming with it

Not a bad idea - I've got a topper lift installed, so it would be rather easy to lower it down onto a 2x to provide the clamping pressure.

Can you pop the plastic caps off?

What are you looking to add to the hooks? Netting?

Yes the cap can come off, but the nut/bolt also nests into the bottom portion of the cap like this, and thus I can't get in there.

I'm thinking netting and possibly a hook for a candle heater.

I would use a fresh razor blade and make 2 relief cuts on that cap so you can get a socket around it. If not, perhaps some pliers and back it out from the top. Glue wont hold anything significant. If you have a liner, the glue might pull the liner away from the cap over time too. My .02.

The mass of the topper should be plenty to clamp them on there. If you could get away without gluing might be easier if you ever wanted to remove the hooks, but sounds like getting the at the current track nuts is near impossible. Could always paint or cover wood in carpet to match interior of topper for a clean look

Did you purchase cargo net with the topper or aftermarket? Im looking for a cargo net but not wanting to pay the mark up ($85) Leer wants for theirs.
Anyone else found a good cargo net on Amazon or something?

That guy put 25lb on one bolt glued with JB Weld, I think a few lbs will be fine. No liner in my topper, just all fiberglass.

    on the right track!
