are you just cracking the bleeder and letting it out or do you have a hose on it? You can suck air back in through the bleeder. If you put a hose on it, it won’t.

honestly, just doing it like i do brakes....to me its pretty much the same principle, correct?
edit....crack it open let it flow out then close it pump 10-15 times and repeat....probably should get a hose so i can watch it huh?

Yes. Same as the brakes with a helper. You don't need 10-15 pumps though. Maybe 2 max. Pumping can drive air higher in the line.

Also, when working with a helper, the pedal may stay on the floor after you close the bleeder underneath. Don't let that bother you. Pull the pedal up by hand and it will be good.

that’s what I did the first time. Using a hose worked way better and my clutch is solid now. Also made way less of a mess

Okay. There is that. But, only if your pedal never comes back off the floor. I've been in those shoes.

I have a small electric vacuum pump. Was able to bleed the clutch system in a few seconds. Good to have one if doing brake or hydraulic work even on an occasional basis (pump was $50 on ebay).

LMAO good to see i'm not alone in the quest for better clutch feel...if i make it a habit of doing stuff like this on a regular basis i might be inclined to fork over the dough but for now i'll stick with trial and error thanks though @MGB

Yes! I am not a fan of vacuum pumps on hydraulic clutches. I failed miserably twice without emptying the reservoir, but have heard for other folks that they had no problems. The issue is the amount of pumping and bleeding that needs to be done once it goes sideways. That is why, in general, I say to stay away. Usually, 10min max with a helper gets it done.

But then, it was once posted that someone completely drains down the brake system when bleeding and has no troubles. So, there is that.

I have used the pump on may different hydraulic systems including clutches and brakes. The only times I had problems were when there was an air leak in the hydraulic system from a bad fitting or seal. For the taco clutch I attached the hose, turned on the pump, cracked the bleeder (no need to open it wide) and waited about 10 seconds until there was an inch of fluid in the hose. Closed the bleeder and the job was finished.

That is excellent and sounds reasonable.

I had no leaks when I tried. Completely mess up a car and a bike clutch. It was more than an hour of work to get pressure back. That was a lesson learned for me.

For me, I'll stick to brakes with pumps.

So...randomly this morning my clutch is somewhat slow to come back up, and if I mash it to the floor it will stick for a split second before popping back up. If the reservoir is still adequately full, I’m assuming a need to bleed it...or could it be herpes? Not looking forward to a bleed...PTSD.

Yep, and check to see if you have any wet spots around the slave. Sounds like you still have air in the system.
