I think it looks much better with a color matched front bumper and grille surround.
I also want to do a color matched rear bumper.

Found this gem a few weeks ago, old man owned. Added the 4runner trail wheels today and look forward to what's to come. Love all the trucks on here!

For those of you running 35s, what set of gears did you go with?

Have a 2.7 3rd gen AC 5spd, but with how heavy they are, I’m thinking 5.29 is the only way it’ll be fully functional.

I'll be leaving the mirrors black along with the door handles. I will be installing power mirrors when I'm done messing with the suspension.

    For 35s, I would definitely go 5.29s. I have 285s on 4.88s and I can't see 4.88s being enough for 35s.
I am, however, running with an automatic transmission. For me, too much gear is better than not enough gear.

Nope, 3.92 for 2017 5spd + all the added weight of a 3rd gen. She’s a turd, but not as bad as everyone made it sound while on road. Off-road it’s a joke in 4hi, would have to roast my clutch like mad to get anywhere noteworthy. Pavement princess and light fireroads until I regear.

We share a similar viewpoint, rather have extra gear than not enough and smoke the tranny, clutch, etc. Besides, these 2.7 motors are built to rev a bit, I’m totally cool with 74mph at 3k rpm. I run her in 4th at that speed right now with 285s and stock gearing - she’s happy on freeway while everyone else is pissed I’m not going 80+ aha.

Do you think 4.88s would be right for 265/75-16s with an auto?
    Thanks!

Mine did fine with the factory 4.10s and 265s.

Thank you. Mine definitely struggles with the E range tires. I've considered 4.56s but I want to do the gearing right the first time.

I think 4.88s will be overkill for 265s, but if you EVER plan to run 285s, I would get 4.88s instead of 4.56s. I run about 2800 RPMs @78-80 MPH, IIRC. It's still not what I consider "peppy", but it's a hell of a lot better than it was. There just ain't much engine in these trucks.

Has anyone tried the PTR13-35150 TRD PRO on a reg cab? How does it compare to the blue and yellow bilsteins?

I haven’t posted a pic of my Reggie in a while. I’d been saving for a few years to buy a 2016-2017 Mustang GT. Instead yesterday I bought a 2007 Nissan Altima for a DD (even though I only drive about 3,000 miles a year). So now the Taco mods will commence starting with front and rear lockers and 4:88’s this spring when I can travel down to ECGS for a week. After that , Black Steelies and 255/85 tires. I might even paint it that “cement” color that is on the third gens and add a sport hood.0F29E71E-8B14-471D-9FCD-A0C5DAB3AD64.jpg

Truck looks good. Are you running spacers with those FJ wheels? They are 16's right? What are the tire size? Thanks

I had a standard. 5.29’s weren’t an option at the time. 4.88’s were okay with 35’s but it just felt kinda stock. If I would do it tomorrow, I’d go 5.29’s and gain some low end power.

I'd definitely look at 4.88, the 5.29 would work too just geared a little deep, from what I Know you might loose some top end
