Yes it is! Mark has been a good friend of mine for quite some time. I take all my deer for the Hunters for the Hungry program to him, and the visit usually isn't over until a beverage has been shared!

 

Before I post in the freebie section... Anyone want my factory Front & Rear floor mats (3rd Gen)? Replaced them with the weathertechs, just need to bolt the passenger one down somehow from sliding.

 

I took my taco over to the Vdot truck scales in Aldie today. With all the protective and recovery gear on board including me the front weighed 2840 and the rear 2740. I am happy with that balance.

 

That seems really well balanced to me! I’m no expert, but remove you from the truck, and you have a perfectly balanced vehicle! Ever seen how they move damaged lemans cars? They pick them up with a loop on the top center of the vehicle, and the car stays balanced while it’s suspended and moved. Are you building a #racetruck?

 

I have been reading how to build a 4x4 to handle well on trails. So I have been designing the location and mounts for all the Add ons. Balanced and low weight distribution so the weight helps going up and down hills. I was surprised that unsprung is not bad. Also filling front tires with water works for rock crawlers. I did not find much analytic research but lots of trial and error stuff. But just thinking about physics laws works. There is lots of good information from Jeep design.

 

That’s really cool! What mounts have you made and installed? I would love to see pics.

I believe the “water in the tires” thought is to add weight to your contact patch. Tractors use the same theory, so it would make sense on things with low gearing and large tires. I’m not sure that’s going to be a mod for the average taco though.

Out of curiosity do you know much about Roll Center? (I don’t but need too)
