I was driving my truck a little hard because I was running late and when I parked I noticed smoke and saw this!

Seems red in color. Is it? If so...transmission fluid from somewhere

It's impossible to know how much has leaked out. 1st thing I would do is determine what color it is. If it's black, check your oil level. If it's red, that involves a bit more to check.

You need to figure out where it's coming from. Personally I think it's probably ok to drive it a short distance. But figuring out what and where it's coming from is very important.

Don't drag your feet on this

Looks like transmission... and probably critical for any distance.

Here’s the verdict! Dealership over filled my transmission by 3 quarts and it puked all that ATF out of the transmission breather tube. Also my rear main seal is slightly leaking.

Wow. You’d think there would have been a more than a trickle from the over flow plug of the Trans. when doing the final fluid level check?

I can’t say what the Tech did, or did not, do.
But it sounds like the fluid was drained then filled and called good to go? (with too much fluid)

Good thing it wasn’t anything major.

    Thanks for the update.

Yeah, looks like red transmission fluid. Might be as simple as some bolts not torqued all the way....worth going around and checking all bolts.

You are assuming the tech did a final fluid check ... which they clearly did not.

I usually try to do everything myself but for the trans I read about close trans, putting it in temperature check mode etc etc so I said “don’t wanna mess this up! let’s head to the dealer”..... never again.

did they suck and fill or do it the right way, if the right way then no way to overfill. Buttholes all of 'em. On the plus side, truck wont rust so quick.
