I just bought a pair from Rock Auto. $304. Delivered to my door, all inclusive.

Where are you getting the bearing from? This vendor: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wheel-bearings-hubs-press-service-4x4-prerunner-nsk.537080/ or a Dorman?

Wonder if your Tuff Country spindle is contributing to the issue. Is the CV cup seal or spindle seal worn? Is the O-ring intact at the bearing housing shoulder?

Mechanic gets them from an auto parts store. I have used 2 previous brands and now trying a different one.
The bad bearing was completely open. The ring on the side of the bearing housing which has the magnet for the speed sensor, it was floating around and had fallen off.

Still shouldn't kill wheel bearings every year and a half. Do you have a brake shield / backing plate?

i would not do crystal lake, not that great of a trail and constant water crossings. We went when it was dry their and still was almost over my 35s in a few spots.

not many bypasses, as said, have recovery gear ready if you go.

maybe the mechanic didn't change the inner seal.
I've been running 3" lift and 33's for 9 years and only had the right wheel bearing replaced (under warranty) back in 2014. When I took it off, it was still in good shape. Changed it anyway because the left had to be done...
This time, my left wheel bearing was gone - which was still original. The inner seal on this side was pretty bad and letting goop in, but my speed sensor was ok.
I run 1.25 spider trax to keep the 285's away from the upper control arm.
I do however try to avoid deep water, once the truck was out of extended warranty. I went through 4 ADD actuators, catalytic converter, right front wheel bearing, left rear wheel bearing and steering knuckle all under warranty.
Since I stopped going through deep silty water, haven't had any issues with the above until the left front wheel bearing went this summer.
