I didn’t pay for it. Nice thing about being the regular mate. my buddy wanted to test the water so to speak.
good for friends not good for charter.
I just like fishing. Got our asses kicked till 6am went to work and was grumpy all day. No sweat off my nuts.

Hope I can get a shot at this one come November. Pretty sure he’s a 12. Never shot a 12, if I can I’ll have a complete set from 0-13

Enjoyed a week of nice weather in ND after the blizzard moved through last weekend. We were able to scratch out a few birds on this day but I was rather distracted by the awesome layer of clouds all morning.

I'm finally getting to the point of digging the smoke pole out to clean it up real good, then go get it dirty at the range. it does not like to be near clean at all.

dont know any that do...;) So tell me I saw this on show, guy shoots his muzzleloader, cleans it then fires a cap/primer, then loads powder and bullet. Is the cap fire necessary? I dont/ havent ever done that?

Puts a little dirt/soot in the barrel. Clean barrels have less grab on the bullets. Especially guns of old.

My barrel is rifled but nitride coated and groups better the more it's fired and fouled. My last one, after three shots you couldn't load it without running a swab through it. Too gunked up and tight clearance. This new one is way better.

I usually shoot 3 then clean, its way too hard to load a bullet after 3.

My last one was similar. Current one I've had up to 31 shots over two years... Would stack bullet holes at 100 yards and still loaded smooth. Love it

What brand gun is it? I have an Encore, stainless, and after the 4th shot you have to bang the rod on a tree to get one to seat.

I've busted a cap in mine after sitting in the safe just to make sure I have all the "stuff" out of the breech plug (only gets used 2 weeks per year). I don't always do it, but have a few times.

CVA Accura V2 with Nitride coating

Absolutely love this one. The Nitride coating is a blessing. Like I said, I can shoot multiple (20 plus) shots before touching it with a swab. only time I've done that is brand new when I bought it and was testing different bullets and charge amounts. That was a looong day with shoulder pain and expense  But when I was done and settled on my charge/bullet combo I think it was shot 24/25/26, and then I packed it up and took it hunting a few weeks later. Shot 27/28/29 were 3 dead dear ranging from 60-300 yards. I clean it at the end of each season before it hits the safe and try to put at least 7-10 shots through it at the range before hunting season. I have faith it could go out cold but the groups really tighten up as it fowls a little.

    I use 209 primers and a scope (@wilcam47 ;))
    Powerbelt Aerolite 250 grain bullets
Blackhorn 209 powder around 112 grains iirc

Ive got a CVA but not with the nitride coating. I still like to shoot it though. Going to shoot a few rounds and see how well its shooting before muzzle loader season.

This wide 3 pt. came in Tuesday when my wife was hunting. She said if we needed meat she would have shot him. What are the odds of having two 3 pts. together?

Thought this was a new buck, he disappeared late August. That short brow tine is unmistakable. He’s back!

A friend of mine thats a farmer got me and my wife an elk cow depredation tag, I filled mine tonight. Shes going to try and fill hers next...So anyhow Another friend and myself went up behind my place and scouting a spot to hunt, saw some elk a good 800yds away so we jumped on the quad and go down the hill to about 550 yds to get a game plan so he cuts through the clear-cut and I take the quad down the hill around a skid trail for a closer walk out. I snuck down and saw one about 275 yds away but it was barely visible through some tree branches so with the arc of the bullet it would have hit a tree branch, Pass. So we situate about 30yds apart above the clearcut road fully expecting to see the elk move out into viewing/shooting range just before last shooting light like last night. But NOPE elk do what elk do. SO these 2 elk come sneaking down the draw from behind us! My friend was to the right of me so I was trying to get his attention I was getting ready to shoot. This was safe as he was to the left of my line of sight and shooting. So the elk cows spook and hesitate, turning quartering away, approximately 150yds I shoot the bigger of the 2 and she runs up hill about 80-100yds! then just drops! We get over to where she was and move her a bit and she rolls down the hill to the bottom of the draw which was a good 70yds. I called my wife to get the deer cart dolly, quartered and used the gutless method. loaded up and headed home...shot with my reloaded .308 SST 180gr. from my Savage MVP. I'll skin them out tomorrow, its in the cooler so they'll be ok overnight.
