Yeah, some people like the look of 17s and tire selection is a little better. But that size is more expensive.

    Decals!

    I have a stock suspension SR5, are spacers required/recommended to run 265/70/17?

    same question sorta.

I have a stock 2020 SR and just purchased 265/70 17 Falken Wildpeak with 17 x 8.5 wheels with 0 offset from Discount Tire
Crossing my fingers that there will be no rubbing

I bought the truck with this setup and it was rubbing so I removed the front deflector (mudflap was already gone) and that helped it only rubs once in a wile with the wheels turning going up a driveway. If you look at the picture you can see the spacer behind the rim.

For those who do not already know:
The first number in a tire size is how wide the tread is in millimeters. The second is the “series” and represents how tall the tire is relative to its width. So a 70 series is 70% as tall as it is wide. And so on. The higher the series, the taller the sidewall.

I have a 2018, 2019 and now a 2020 (my two boys have the 2018 & 2019). On all 3 SR5 trucks we are running Falken Wild Peaks 265/70/17s. These are great tires, aggressive look, long lasting tread and very comfortable ride.
Here is what is interesting...on the 2018 and 2020, the Falkens are on American Outlaw 17" wheels - 17x9 6 lug 139.70. On the 2019, I have a set of DX4 17" wheels - 17x8.5 6 lug 139.70. The only difference is the 9 versus 8.5 width. The 2019 tires rub on full turn when backing down my driveway. They cant be rubbing much as I dont see any wear in the wheel well or mud gaurds. The only thing I can think of that's causing it is the width of the DX4 wheels (.5 less than the AO wheels). This is causing the tire stance to be just a tad taller than the tires on the AOs. Am I crazy? Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.
Charcoal Grey is the 2020 and the Silver one is the 2019.

Whatever you do, don't you dare get larger tires than me. It isn't possible.

It will also depends on the wheel offset

What is the offset of the American Outlaw wheels and the offset of the DX4 wheels

Ah ITZY...you might be on to something there. Offset on the AO wheels is +18 and the offset on the DX4 wheels is -8.
Im not sure I completely understand the impact of the negative versus positive.
All set ups were purchased at Discount Tire so why they would go with different offsets is beyond me.
    Thank you.

    From Tire Rack
    Wheel Tech: Offset
    (Lea en español)

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types (measured in millimeters).*

"The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel."

    Zero Offset
The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.

    Positive
The hub mounting surface is located in the front half of the wheel closer to the wheel face. This tucks the entire wheel in toward the brakes and vehicle suspension. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front-wheel drive cars and newer rear-wheel drive cars.

    Negative
The hub mounting surface is located in the back half of the wheel closer to the back lip flange. This moves the wheel out away from the vehicle brakes and suspension. "Deep dish" wheels and wheels for lifted trucks are typically a negative offset.

If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. Often, when changing the width of the wheel, the offset will also need to change to maintain proper clearances inside the wheel well. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won't work correctly. We test fit thousands of different vehicle and wheel size combinations to confirm which ones work correctly. Our extensive database allows our sales staff to offer you the perfect fit for your vehicle.

Looks like my OEM TRD sport wheels with a +30 mm adding the 1.25' spacer brought the offset closer to 0 (-1.75 mm) if my calculation is correct.

For what it's worth, the warranty period is so short. For me, 1.5 years with the mileage I put on. Not worth waiting to lift, IMO. Or burn down the stock tires, then make improvements after a couple years go by.

It all depends on the wheel size and offset assuming you are near stock alignment. The TRD Pro wheels (16x7 +13) fit perfectly with 285s in terms of tire to fender clearance and the closest clearance is from the inside tire to the upper control arm. On the contrary, 285s on TRD Offroad wheels rub from what I have heard.
