Now every time I answer a call it’s in handset mode. Switch to hands free and the music keeps playing thru the speakers during the call.
    Wtf

Called Apple support today and they told me that i would need to contact Toyota to find out if the stereo in the Tacomas are compatible with Apple’s latest software. I didn’t even know what to say. Didn’t have the energy to argue with them.

WoW! I noticed my iPhone 10 has been glitchy lately. Have to hang up the head unit when I connect and not recognizing all my tunes, been going on since an update a couple months ago. Was actually looking to upgrade to the 11, but ?? now..
A new head unit has been in the back of my mind, but I am only a couple years old and was hoping to wait a bit longer..

I started a different thread earlier but shouldve looked here first. My issue is not just BT dropping connection but the head unit itself
is shutting down then powering back on again. every minute or 2. started a few days after i updated IOS to 13.1

This is really getting annoying, I work from my truck, had an Iphone 10 for the last year and never had any issues. As soon as I got the iphone 11 it started happening. It drops calls... Spotify works fine but calls get droped randomly. Called Apple (3 times so far), they had me upgrade the iphone to 13.1.3, disconnect and reconnect, reset vehicle headset, check with Toyota to see if I have the latest firmware in my headset (I do). I don't know what else to do, I'm about to return the Iphone 11 and get and iphone 10 again.

That probably won't help. It appears to be an IOS 13 issue (not hardware).

Still an issue here on 13.1.3. Thinking of going to kenwood as well, my only issue is you need a stupid little mic instead of using what’s built into the Tacoma.

I've not had issues since 13.1.3. Probably need more time to be sure it's fixed. Since iOS 12 didn't have issues, I'm thinking it's more of a iOS 13 issue than the head unit or the phone hardware. 13.2 is due out in the next couple of months which might stabilize this a bit more.

I guess if you go with an aftermarket head unit with Apple Car Play, you'll likely be working with a wired plug in connection so BT dropping shouldn't be an issue.

    Like, so many.
My BT is so weird. Sometimes it connects to the podcast I was listening to, sometimes to music, sometimes to a podcast I was listening to three weeks ago. IDK if it’s an iPhone issue or Toyota issue, but I changed my podcast app today hoping to get better results.

I’ve had the same problem with my head unit just uncontrollably restarting over and over. Definitely an iPhone thing, I just gave up and deleted the Tacoma from my Bluetooth settings. Sucks, but it’s better than being as frustrated as I was trying to fix it! :annoyed:

Being able to do hands-free calling without needing to pick up your phone is a very nice feature. Talking while driving can be a distraction, but needing to fumble with your phone makes this far worse. Yeah, we've driven for decades without phones of any kind in the vehicle, and then there were hard wired dedicated "car phones" for a few years, then simply a cell phone sitting on the seat, but who wants to go back to that. I really hope my set up is fixed.

    None yet, several planned
Just go a new Iphone 11, with IOS 13.1.3 and was hoping to not have the dropped call/BT disconnect issue. But sure enough it happened twice yesterday.

I just upgraded to the iPhone 11 Pro. It's on 13.1.3. Same issues. The time it stays on the bluetooth varies, but every call over 2+ minutes with it has dropped at some point.

Yea super annoying. I check every date for a new update. I stopped downloading new IOS after they released because Apple sucks now and has so many bugs upon release. Back in the day they made sure when they rolled out a new IOS most of the issues were taken care of during the beta testing. Unfortunately I finally upgraded my iPhone 6 with the 11 so o had no choice but to run the New iOS 13.

I rarely take calls in my truck anymore since my job changed but the few times I have a call will drop within 2 minutes. Hopefully they get it straightened out soon.

I had a satisfaction survey email from Apple that I filled out today. I made sure to go to great lengths to express my disappointment with my iPhone due to this issue and how I was considering returning it. I recommend you all do the same to hopefully bring this to their attention.
