over 400 miles to a tank!

SO I recently decided to see how much gas my lead foot actually wastes and drove conservatively on a tank of gas. From Atlanta, Ga back home (190 miles all interstate) between 65 and 70mph (below 2000rpms)and then playing nicely in the city I am at 400 miles and my gas light has not come on yet. It is really close! When I fill up I will find the average. I have is a k&N air filter. Anyone getting better or close and what mods.

The most I have ever gotten was about 310ish

 

70 mph below 2000 rpms .... that's impressive.

Is this normal? I am guessing a 6 cylinder. My straight 4 sits about 1850 - 1900 at 60 mph.

I love getting good mileage .... it is all about smart driving.

 

I have gotten anywhere from a little below 400 to a little over every time. I commute 80 miles a day...mostly freeway with some traffic driving. I don't have any mechanical mods...just light on the throttle most of the time.

My worst tank was 20 mpg...best was 23.

X2. Stock tires 265-70/16 on a 09 SB 6-spd manual TRD off-road 4x4. No lift and running 87 octane w/ afe pro dry filter.

 

I'm an 07 DC SB 6spd 4x4. No lift, 265/75/16 duratracs on 87 octane. I did actually notice since I changed my spark plugs and air filter about a month ago, I have been getting about 20-30 miles more per tank. My drive to/from work is about25 miles @ 50mph average through horsefarms and country roads.

 

What do you guys think about electric fans instead of the clutch fan to save on fuel?

 

Notice they are Pre Runners. Not carrying around all the 4x4 stuff.

 

I have thought about that but I have told myself I'm going to keep the engine 100% stock. I have a history of modding vehicles and its a nasty thing to get addicted to . Intake and exhuast quickly turns into custom turbo kits, which turns into engine management systems, which leads to an im-practical daily driver. Its an endless cycle and a hard addiction to kick.

 

I have a DC LB 4X4. Lately I have been doing more highway. My last tank I got 656Km which is over 400miles. the light was on for a while and the needle was passed the bottom line so I filled up. truck only took 70litres which means I had about 10 left. could of easily done 700KM

4cyl 5 speed i get atleast 700km per tank every time with 265/70/17 Firestone M/T's and a couple hundred pounds in the toolbox

 

HA! I get about 225 per tank....err 18 GLs

HTF do you get over 300 mi to the tank! best I ever did was about 280 stock all hwy

 

while I am running an APR X-1, TRD CAI, and DTLH...I still manage to consistently get 400+ miles per tank with both city/highway driving combined...I hate traffic and construction on the roads so I constantly find alternative routes, mainly back roads while it may take me a little longer to get to my destination but that also means I don't have to go through so much stop and go traffic and I can remain in 6th gear while being under 2K rpms the entire time...

and yes I am a 4x4...

Welcome to the 400 club! I can clip 400 semi-regularly and have twice before when I let the tank run that far, although I usually fill up around 1/4 tank out of habit. No MPG mods to speak of, other than my tonneau which, after tracking 15 tanks before and 26 tanks after, did seem to give a very marginal improvement.

 

while in technical specs a tonneau cover adds aerodynamics...because you are adding weight it takes additional gas to get up to speed...

there's always pros/cons to anything you do...
