    SHIT! $4958.46 for 86140-04210

Guess I'm sticking with the 2019 one.

Yeah.... Same. For the moment at least. I've already done too much to my 2019 to take all of it off, put the stock stuff back on and trade it for a 2020 and take a huge hit, probably nearing the cost of this head unit.

I'm going to remain hopeful that the 2020 head unit is backwards compatible and we just need one willing soul to try and retrofit it and post a thread up about it letting us know the outcome. If that happens, I wouldn't mind waiting and picking up a head unit out of a wrecked 2020 and installing it myself. Sadly, I don't have the coin to throw up on an experiment to do myself lol

I haven't done anything to my Tacoma, it's stock AF. I considered getting a 2020 RAV4 TRD Off Road or a hybrid and they offered me $32K for the truck but decided against it. Can't see myself in a RAV.

I'll probably do the same as you as far as the headunit goes.

I hear ya. If I was still bone stock and got offered that, I'd be more tempted than I am now. When toyota had that 40% off sale, I grabbed an exhaust, intake, and skid plate. And just recently picked up a set of fox shocks from a PRO with 10k miles on them. So minus the hood and leather, my OR is basically a PRO now without the name/badge. If I go 2020, it'll be a pro and they're quite a bit more expensive than I'd like to pay... I'm still under the $40k mark on my truck, whereas new pro's in my area are stickered around $48k before mark ups and all that crap. Just can't justify trading in my 2019 because of a headunit and leather...

    Sounds like a nice build!

I can't justify losing money and trading in from a 2019 with tech and premium package to a 2020 only for a new headunit, power seats, and LED lights. I do wish I would've waited to buy but too late now.

Thank you! Just recently put the morimoto lights on too. Wish I could have waited as well, but someone offered to buy my 2012 VW and I couldn't pass up the offer, I'd never see an opportunity like that come up again lol.

Fingers crossed someone else will be the guinea pig and retro the head unit

I’ve had my BeatSonic setup for about 3 weeks now so I figured I’d share for those interested. If you want Apple CarPlay/Android Auto I personally think it’s worth the money to keep the OEM look. Install is strait forward and the worst part is just trying to get everything to fit behind the unit so you can bolt it back in. I have the JBL setup (which is recommended by BS’s website) and my only real complaint is the resolution. If I hadn’t seen CarPlay in other cars I probably wouldn’t care, ignorance is bliss, but the resolution is less than ideal. Here’s some photos for those interested....

Isn't the resolution in the radio itself? It would not be caused by the Sonic system, would it?

Correct, the BeatSonic system is limited by the head unit’s screen resolution and has nothing to do with BeatSonic’s interface. I only point this out as warning to those interested - on the JBL it’s just okay so I would assume on non-JBL units it’s going to be equal or possibly even worse...

I had this same question a bit ago. Everyone would rather have Carplay!!! I would switch. Hopefully we get concrete answers.

It’s not horrible, it’s just not as crisp & sharp edged as compared to the Entune menus and map. If your just using CarPlay for music, texts, calls it’s fine, Waze & Apple Maps is when it is the most noticeable. You can still read street names and see store logos - it’s just not as good as factory setups. My dealership gave me a 2020 Corolla as a loaner for 2 days so I now know what it looks like on a factory setup. If I didn’t have that to compare though it would be different. I’ll try to snap a photo of Waze on my commute home and post it for you all to see...

I was thinking about getting an aftermarket unit that has wireless carplay but not sure I like the looks of all the plastic around the screen.

Its sorta been a headache trying to get this hooked up since its from china and no instructions, but with the help of some facebook groups, i am ready to hookup soon. From other users, it looks awesome, especially watching movies. Also from others, the anytimefront/rear mod works with this as well. I will post pics as soon as i get the kinks worked out

would really like to see how Apple car play looks and if it is just wired or if it is wireless. So you are saying it is not just plug and play?
