2013 driver seat noise when weight shifts

I hear it randomly too and I'm guessing it's the plastic cover on the side of the seat facing the door as mentioned in one of the earlier posts. I've had that part make noise on other vehicles too, just haven't been bothered by it in the Taco enough to diagnose it any further than that yet.

 

Well, to follow up, my "newer" seat has been doing the popping thing for about a month now. Its only when I shift my weight side-to-side, just like before. Since my warranty is up now, I don't know if I should take it back to them or not. Its not "as bad" as before, but definitely annoying when it happens. My guess it is it related to the frame/springs in the lower back area. Reclining the seat more/less doesn't help, so I don't think it is the pivot point. Its definitely not a plastic sound.

 

A squeaky headrest and seat noise... oh the horror. I would sell your Taco and go with a more reliable brand

 

Oh, don't be a dick. I was speaking in overall terms. It's not just the seats...its everything. I buy Toyota because it is the most reliable brand I've found. But it's completely fair to say that, while still being the most reliable brand, Toyota are slipping in quality. Quality and reliability are not the same thing. My seat is completely reliable but it's not top quality.

 

Did anyone figure out this seat clunk? My 2015 does the same thing. The dealer said they could not repeat the issue.

 

Mine just stopped doing it with age. Toyota decided it was normal because they found another new truck on the lot that did the same thing. Lame but that's how it works...if there is a high likelihood that a replacement will have the same problem (non-safety design defect) then they don't bother.

 

They said the same thing about the "safety" issue. Mine didn't start till about 32k and I took it in around 34k. Now I'm up to about 42k. I did ask if they would still cover it if the noise got progressively worse. They said they would since it was originally reported under warranty. We'll see if it gets worse and if they honor they're word or were just trying to appease me.

Also, I did break all the mounting bolts loose and "re-torque" them and the issue did not change. I have considered taking the seat out and checking a few things. I was a tech at a Toyota dealer about 10 years ago and I have disassembled many seats.
