Would I even need a rear lift?

I just received my 5100's for the front today. I already have the 4 leaf pack in the rear. The difference in fender height between front and back is 2.5". I was going to set the shocks to 2.5". Do I even need to do anything with the rear? I was going to add Ride Rite airbags too, if just to keep the rear level. Thoughts?

Are you towing or carrying heavy loads (that's what she said) and need airbags? I think it'll look good with just the 5100s in the front and stock rear. Here's my truck with coilovers set 1.75 and stock (no lift) rear w/ 3 leaf pack. Second pic is coilovers at same height plus 1.5 AAL in the back.

you shouldn't but i like my rear a little higher than the front. You should be pretty level with 2.5" of lift up front and the rear tsb springs.

I have a snowmobile I put in the back plus a ramp system...about 700lbs...during the winter months. That's when I figure airbags would come in handy. My plan was to gain lift in the rear using airbags but at most I think the airbags will be good to keep it level

    thanks for the replies

Has your rear had time to settle? It will generally settle about half an inch. My measurements are less than .25 inch difference front to back, set on 1.75 with 4 leaf pack. After settling of course.

I don't know if it has settled. I took possession of it 2 weeks ago with 45000kms on it. I think it came with the 4-leaf pack when it was new as it's a Canadian truck. I'll see what happens I guess!

i think measuring the fender height is the wrong way of doing it.
the fenders are not cut the same, more opening in the rear.
setting the billys at 2.5 will probably make you nose high

Level trucks sag when hauling or towing.

Trucks should have a rake. Lift the rear a bit.

You don't NEED to lift it at all.

What are you trying to achieve by doing so?

Is it just the cheapest path to a certain look?

    Do you want more clearance?

    Are you planning bigger tires?

The reason for your lift should point to the correct answers.

I am getting 18" rims and 265/70r18's. Those tires are just over 32" in height.

Use your jack under the front and jack it up 2.5". I did that and am glad I did. I had the tsb last year and it has settled a lot. Even 1.75 was nose high. I installed them at .85 yesterday and it raised me exactly one inch. The rear fender is exactly 1 inch higher than the front which looks pretty level to me with a very slight rake. The rear fender is cut higher too so getting them equal would leave your nose high. I'm sure all trucks are different but in my case the jack was a great way to see where I wanted to be.

It looks way better with the AAL. My 2005 tacoma had 5100's set @ 1.75 and TSB springs. Even though it was technically level, it looked nose high to me. My 2010 is sitting on 5100's set @ 0.85 w/TSB springs, and looks better with a slight rake. Right now I'm sitting at 36" front, 37" rear, but would like to get the Toytec coils to accomodate a heavier bumper. You just convinced me to get an AAL when I get my coils.

I agree with you. I liked the look OK with just the front lift but anytime there's a load/heavy bumper etc it would be nose high. Truck needs a rake when unloaded if you don't air bags, like me.

    Thanks
