Thank you. Decked system is nice but this solution is lighter and accomplishes a similiar end result. I must admit though...it was inspired by the Decked system...after finding out its price.

It does not use a full plywood sheet for the deck and not all of a 1/2 sheet of plywood for the door. Roughly 80 % of a sheet of plywood or 56 lbs or 3,790 sq inches. Also does not use full 1" boards...roughly 60 % of the boards you need. Boards are I'm guessing by weight when i handled them to be 7 lbs a piece therefore roughly 13 bs of boards and 3 lbs of screws and braces. Of course this is all estimated. My point is its quite light and 72 lbs is a realistic estimate. I find the storage very usefull all the time due to work and my out door lifestyle.

The DECKED system for the Tacoma, is roughly 210lbs regardless of the bed length.

i have a decked system and love it. It will limit your usable space and add some ass weight, that and the camper shell is pushing me to some airbags or a suspension upgrade. I also use it to sleep on and put all my hunting gear in it. I purchased the locks and my tail gate has the lock as does the camper shell..... id say its pretty secure.... you break through 3 locks you can have it at that point. The weight thing is kinda comical, guys worry about weight in the bed of a truck but hang a cattle gate off the front and rear and hang all their"survivalist" gear on their bed racks and dont mention the weight of all that. If a decked system was $500 bucks none of the above would be an argument, they couldnt keep them instock.

Ok next question is what is the price you guys are paying for the decked system $ I was quoted a price of
    $1.300
Like the previous poster said at $500 I would have already bought one and still might purchase one of I can shave a few dollshairs off the price

You’ll probably end up paying around that price for a new one. Graduated, decked does have some pretty cheap shipping costs. Very hard to find a used one like I did- picked it up for $800 and had to drive 4 hours to get it.

Anyone used them yet with a Softopper? Looking to see if the hinge on the Softopper hangs too low or not.

I have the decked system and really like it. I suspect the biggest consideration is how often one expects to use the storage. If rare, then it's not really worth the expenditure.

Everyone thank you for input on this, but i decided that its not efficient system to use after talking to decked, the weight of the unit for 5.1 bed is 200+ pounds with storage capacity close to 3 of my plano storage boxes, to me thats alot of dead weight i have to drive around and with already loaded truck and all gear this makes it very heavy. so until they come up with some light weight solution i think i will stay with my plano boxes.

What size Plano boxes are you using?

I use front runner boxes which stack nicely and have a low price point. So far, it's a great solution for me and they are small enough to organize stuff but large enough to fit what I need.

I got these and they work perfect in 5.1 bed and i stack them two and two and strap them to bed and have a bed rack ontop with RTT and works good, plus have room in between for chairs/tables etc. and they are super light.

Putting stuff down in the bottom of the bed has always seemed sub optimal to me. I want to be able to get stuff from the side doors. I also wanted some space to put tall stuff back there. Those drawers reduce the cargo height of the entire bed, and you have to open your tailgate to get to them.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
if the decked system was 500 bucks id have one. But im personally not willing to shill out that much cash on a plastic drawer system

Edited to add. Even at 750 itd be doable
