This all is making me laugh. So if I move to Livermore can I still be a part of this thread? I’ll still have a 209 area code....:fingerscrossed:

So... In doing research on the subject of procurement of evergreen trees from Federal Property for the purposes of festively decorating ones living room for celebration of the birth of Baby Jesus, (or winter solstice, if pagan is your thing). You must do the following.

Stanislaus National Forrest does NOT do tree permits.
    https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/stanislaus/passes-permits
Eldorado National Forrest is the closest for us 209ers.
    https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/eldorado/passes-permits/forestproducts/?cid=STELPRDB5253055

Here is a map of the areas (South) suggested for tree cutting.
    Screenshot_20191022-172932_Drive.jpg
This is the South Map linked on the Eldorado page linked above. General location of this area is in the vicinity of:
    38.616156 Lat
    -120.235035 Long

Permits are $10 (2 per houshold)
Permits must be picked up at an Eldorado Forrestry District Office (listed on link) (closest is in Placerville)
Permits must be picked up in person with ID.

So... to do this... Whoever wants to do it would have to drive to Placerville to buy your permit... and then the trees we can cut are up Highway 88. The permit(s) would have to be purchased ahead of tree cutting day because they do run out. They go on sale around Nov 15 (went on sale Nov 13 last year and sold out Nov 28)

    Who's down for this?

I realize I am going against sage advise from John and Morgan to not make this a public thing... but fuck it... the whole Chevy Chase, National Lampoons theme has got me excited here.

This could go down as an EPIC (mis)adventure. As long as no one dies, it'll be fukin fun!

So what's a good time frame for Christmas tree hunting? I know we don't want to go out too soon, cause we don't want our trees dead before Christmas. But then again, we don't want to wait too late where we should already have the tree set up.

I am booked the weekend of Dec 7th and 8th
December 7th we will be on the NorCal Toy drive with @MJonaGS32
    Details here > https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...al-toy-drive-oakland-ca.635155/#post-21843493

December 8th is Jen's family's annual Christmas Party.

On a side note... Seeing as you can get 2 Christmas Tree permits, Jen and I are planning on getting the two permits, cutting 2 trees and then donating one of them to a family that could use some help. I think taking the financial burden of buying a tree could help someone out. Just a suggestion. I'm sure anyone can find someone who could use a tree from their church, or in your social networks, etc.

I'm thinking the Saturday after Thanksgiving to go logging Christmas Trees. That could turn in to a good tradition.

I'll be out if that's the case. Will be on the East Coast for Thanksgiving and get back that Sunday.

I'll be back that Sunday. Then toy drive, then we're less than two weeks out from Christmas. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to get in on this due to scheduling
