Hey Norton, I'm in the Springs too so I think you can relate. I have the 2.85 pulley, el. is ~6700', and I'm thinking (comparing to others with similar setup) I would be pulling 6-7 PSI, maybe close to 8? But maybe not seeing what your numbers are with a smaller pulley. But I'm only seeing 3 PSI at WoT (feels like it's more than that). With the key turned on (no engine) my AEM is reading about -4 inHg (should read zero); if that's reading atmospheric pressure that would make sense as we avg. that below the pressure at sea level. I'm not sure if those numbers are making sense to me because I want them to, or if I'm being dum. Either way, I talked with the Speedhut folks today and one of their tech guys says their sending units adjust for actual atmospheric pressure, meaning that my readings should be more accurate, so I'll be going with them.

Soo, if anyone wants a set of AEM X series boost and AFR gauges, I'll be selling them soon. Never been fired and only dropped once...just kidding, the boost only has a few days use on it and the AFR gauge is still in the package.

Are you mpvi2 with prolink?

 

i have aem x-series. just doubt it.

Unfortunately, I think 6-8psi is overly optimistic with a 2.85" pulley at our elevation. I briefly ran a 2.7" several months ago, yielding ~6psi, so I'd estimate your 2.85" should net you only ~4-5psi. (Obviously, that's not 3psi, but it's a bit closer than 6-8psi.) I agree that your boost gauge should read 0 with the key turned on (no engine), which I'm pretty sure my Speedhut gauge does. Good luck and please keep us posted!

 

Not having experience with these gauges I’d expect them to correct for density or pressure altitude, at least to some degree.

 

When I spoke to an AEM tech, he said they didn't. He also said that people shouldn't use them at altitude...umm, would have been nice to know before I dumped my well earned cash. But the Speedhut tech I talked with said theirs did adjust for altitude, which would make sense as they are at some decent elevation in Utah. I ordered a set from them and will provide some feedback for others once installed.

@JustDSM , that Raptor supercharger kit sounds pretty gnarly. Just watched a video of a kit on an FJ, on the Dyno. On FB though so I cannot share it. Lame.

 

Also Speedhut has excellent customer service!
I've had their boost/vac gauge for a couple years now. Recently the gauge started reading erroneously which I troubleshoot to a faulty pressure sensor.
One call to tech support and I had a new $65 pressure sensor sent to me for free. Got it 2 days later and all is well.

 

I've just about fallen on the side of the fence that is pressurized.. I am going to speak with them about some of the kit specifics. I'll certainly report back if this ends up happening.

I'll have to find that video, I've not seen anything other than pictures at this point.

 

Curious of your thoughts on the video, @JustDSM . Once you can view it.
