They play 6 division games against the weakest teams in the nfl plus other random weak teams. That will pad some stats. Less so than with the niners, but full credit will have to wait upon sustaining that level of excellence against multiple quality opponents. If that gets done then further imposing their will through the playoffs will add perspective. Wins don’t mean that much until the games have meaning.

 

No fault or blame but it does weaken the impact of their record. Almost like college football where they line up weak teams to beat up on before conference games begin.

 

If you really think the Pat's record would be much different if they played in any other division, consider in the BB-Brady era.

Their win percentage against the rest of the NFL is nearly identical to their record against the AFC East.

Their record against eventual division champions (24-14) makes them the only team with a winning record.

Against teams who made the playoffs in a given year they had league best .640 win percentage, Steelers 2nd with .480.

They have a winning record against every team in the NFL except one, Carolina (3-3).

They have more playoff wins than 27 other NFL teams do in their entire histories.

So maybe instead of bitching about the "cupcake" AFC East, be glad the Pat's aren't in your team's division.

 

They’re in a terrible division and would lose more games if they didn’t play six highly winnable games year in, year out. Losing to any of those teams recently is outright awful.

They can be, and are, both a great team and in an awful division with a cupcake schedule.

 

All teams play the schedule they get. Hopefully by the end of a season, it’ll come out in the wash. But then again, haters gonna hate.

The NFL schedule is set up so in addition to the divisions games, teams play the same ranked teams from the previous year (a bit more complicated than that). @blind cowboy ‘s post shows the success the Pats have had with these matchups.

It’s not just a weak AFC East, it’s a weak rest of NFL.

 

But those 6 teams CAN sneak one out every now and then...

How many of those are at an opponent's home field?

The Pats have done it twice (so far), weak schedule or not, it doesn’t happen that often. Remember these are supposed to be NFL caliber opponents.

I’ll stop watching pro football before I stop bragging about my team shutting out another.

We get it. The AFC East is a weak division and the New England Patriots are an awesome, Superbowl Championship caliper (once again) team!!!

 

I thought so at first but he's grown on me lol

 

Getting boring watching the Pats play all these weak teams in their division. I hope it get's more interesting when the Pats play the rest of the weak teams in the playoffs.

 

I have no words to eat. Everything I've stated is fact. With one exception(Billls), they have played shitty teams, so far. And looking at this schedule, that will continue, for the most part.
