One additional note on the new config...

Those 36s smoothed the washboard trails right out. I could see the washboards, but I barely felt them and the rear end stayed planted without dancing around like it did before.

Haven't been very active on here, new job is eating my life.

Aside from maintenance I haven't done much to the Tacoma either.

Non destructive testing inspection.

 

I remember doing that to a 86 Bronco II, had to walk 3 miles out with a foot of muddy water in my new truck. Removed everything like you did, hosed out the carpet on the driveway, then hung over the hedges to dry. By sunset they were dry as a bone, and no smell. I left it out the remainder of hunting season that year, just using floor mats.

That's funny, I experienced the opposite. The rear suspension seemes like it couldn't keep up as good as it use to. Idk if it was the shocks cavitating, extra unsprung weight, the shocks being further away from the tire now because of the extra width (lessening their effectiveness), or just the fact that 63's suck. Who knows

I also didn't get as much axle wrap as I thought I would, but I imagine that will show itself on higher traction surfaces if I don't get the traction bar on before that.

Maybe it's time to either four link the rear and build yourself a baffled aluminum gas tank, or if you're not feeling it just yet, upgrade to a tuneable shock. I have a feeling it's the unsprung weight that's the issue, but I'm dumb as owl shit as far as that stuff goes, so it's just a feeling, lol. Tuning shocks sounds like something you could futz around with for years trying to get them just so...and then you change something and have to start all over again.

You don't notice axle wrap until you pin it with a traction bar installed, trust me. Night and day.

Though I am anti-linked rear suspension, I have been wanting to complement the radflos up front with a set of smooth-bodies for the rear. 4 wheel underground has a tune specifically for Chevy 63s, I just have to pony up the ~$600 or whatever it is for them. Also, while I'm at it, I'll probably outboard them since I have the room now with these axles. Still need to install rear bumps too....

 

I got a few on the Go Pro. Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I'll post them once I download them.

Sounds like a good place to start. You still might end up needing to tune them though. IIRC, you modified the spring rate on your 63s and you still have a bit more unsprung weight with the 1 ton axle, but the Radflos should be tuneable if you aren't happy with them.

 

It would be for 4wd models only if remember right it just works off of the abs but Thomas used to swear by it

Primarily VT, MT, PT.

We do a little ET and UT.

RT and NR gets outsourced.

CWI training starts as soon as I pass my MT and PT LvII which should be next month, building hours to meet ASTM now.

Got my LvII for FRP inspection.
