My truck matches the criteria and I have the time/energy/lack of commitments but work is far and I can’t risk having issues.

Plus I was dead set on twin snails :/

Get a cheap econo-box rental for an entire week for ~$200. You can sell this kit when TT is released.

Well after seeing videos of the 5.29 gears reviews I'm going to drive gears first. This really looks like a good way to try first before dropping into performance IMO. The reviewers of gears make a good point, adding horsepower to the already problematic transmission ratios. Something I didn't realize until it was mention living in Colorado, my truck pretty much drive in 3rd and 4th gear everywhere and only uses 5th+6th on flat or downhill speeds greater than 70 mph. What apparently I had the mentality of others that gearing lower would affect the high way, but this actually improves it by allowing the torque and getting into 5th + 6th overdrive gears. Users say 70 mph the RPM still only 2200. The only mod I have so far that affects performance is the 33" tires and wheels so far. Just planning a front bumper/winch. The other benefit is I do a lot of jeep trails so the lower range will also be nice.

if you aren't going huge tires or lots of weight, 4.88s would probably be where you'd want to go. The AT is geared way too high, especially if you drive over 55 mph, it just doesn't have the torque to actually use the higher gears.

Yup 488 seems more appropriate for 33’s. That’s what’s next for me

trust me I speak with experience of both, and I live in Colorado - even with gears you are going to want the Tune. The two together make this truck 100% what it should be and should have come from the factory.

I live in Sierra Nevada. We may have similar driving conditions. What gearing did you go with and what size tire?
