Everybody's different, drastically in most cases.

I personally have no issue with things you or really anybody shares on here about themselves.

But the moment another individual is brought up, the whole thing changes.

Just keep it about you buddy. Besides, that's why people come to your thread, not to hear about some body else.

It's more his generation (baby boomer). My parents are weary of the fact that I share pictures of my very distinctive Tacoma online, and the fact that my age and first name are listed on here, along with the county I live in.

And then Ali3n_123 is still pissed at me for going on what he sees as anti-police rants, and constantly tagging him in posts...

It's all relative man. If you were going around falking trash about everybody and instigating fights and whatnot...sure your personal info would be a gold mine to the bullies parties.

    But, I don't believe that's the case.

Just a tip my man. If you rub somebody the wrong way, and they make it know to you...apologize, don't do it again and move on!

Exactly. I'm not a troublemaker and the mods think I make valuable contributions to TW. I also do not like reporting people's posts and getting them in trouble (did it one time and the person who made it somehow figured out it was me and harassed me until I was forced to "ignore" him). Whenever somebody crosses the line in a post, I go to "Chat with the Staff" and get it dealt with "out of court" so nobody has to get in trouble.

Nothing you can do, move along and don't bring it up again.

Everybody's got their little pet peeves and stuff that pisses them off.

As long as he doesn't take screenshots of our private conversations and post them publicly again, I'm fine with that...

Old dino means conventional, I'm guessing?

Also, my truck's owner's manual says semi-synthetic so I'm thinking conventional could damage my engine?

Save a little bit to analyze and you can decide what OCI to use going forward for the next 100K.

I imagine 7500 is a nice number especially with your yearly mileage averages. Twice a year is easy enough to swallow. Even at 17-18K a year that's a bit more than 7500 but still less than 10, which from reading past threads, scares a lot of people. 3K is ridiculously short, even for conventional modern oils. 5 to 10 I think on synthetic is right on time.

I bet at 10, it's getting dark on the stick. I've never run synthetic 'til it was black. Don't even know what it would take mileage wise or condition of engine.

edit: What everyone above is saying does line up with what you've been doing and what your Dad advises. 10 for synthetics is pretty averagely advised, most likely lines up with looking at the stick and seeing a change needed soon and is within the guidelines for the oil.

That's not cool but I'm not involved with any of that and chose to keep it that way.

My take after my research is good synthetic oil can handle the longer distances, but filtration has it's limits. Once a filter is plugged, then it will bypass the filter and run dirty oil thru the engine. Higher capacity filters can be used/added, or smaller capacity filters can be changed at a shorter interval than the oil. I use the Mobil 1 M1-209 filter on my truck for a little higher capacity, but still change my oil and filter at 5k.

I tried to last till 7k but when I changed the oil it smelled burnt and pitch black. I opt'd to change it at 5k and everything looked/smelled normal for an oil change.

Maybe that’s a V6 thing? I changed it at 8,000 without an issue...

What the hell? On synthetic? I think I'd for sure send off a sample of that (unless you have a diesel or run second hand oil)

Ya Mobil1 full synthetic 5w-30, no idea what happened that change. Usually I just change when the light comes on and no issues, but that time I tried to go a little longer and that was the outcome. It sure seems odd and I drive like a granny now that I'm at 100k miles.
