She was definitely in shock. I saw her right before the impact and she had no clue I was there until I hit her. She was super shaken up.

I honestly do t think that’s it. I have two buddy’s with bone stock Tacos - a ‘16 and a ‘17 - and they both have the issues. One guy doesn’t give a shit about it and the other is ready to take a can of gas and a road flare to it cause he hates it so bad. My ‘19 OR DC SB, is lifter has wheels on 33’s, and runs as smooth as the day I bought it before the mods.

Now that is just one example but if you look around here there are others saying the same. I think this place is where people come to complain when things aren’t going right. Every now and then there will be a few guys here who come just because they like their trucks and have fun shooting the shit about them and maybe enjoying the occasional shit post.

My point is that you can’t go by what you read here as an example of the average owner’s experience. I believe there a number that have the problem because I’ve seen it for myself. I don’t know what causes it but I don’t think it’s the mods because in the two I just cited the trucks are bone stock and the one that isn’t (mine) is perfectly fine.

Whatever it is, I believe they they either fixed it in the 2019’s with possibly a very few having slipped by or maybe there was always a small percentage that make it out of the factory with the issue.

I don’t know. All I know is I have two friends with problems, both with bone stock trucks and my modded ‘19 is fine. Take that very limited sample for what it’s worth.

    ...Who knows?

Very true and well said. If the 22R had made its reputation on power output alone, I venture to say the North American truck market would be a very different landscape today.

If it makes anyone feel better, I've seen this same bullshit conversation with every car forum ive owned a car from. When I was part of the Wrx STI crowd. When I was part of the vette crowd, when I was part of the 370Z crowd, and lastly when I was part of the Focus RS crowd.

Every single one of those cars had a "thing" that a certain percentage of the owner base would bitch and be paranoid about, and have endless self perpetuating fear conversations on. With the subi it was ring landings and heads, with the RS it was headgaskets and rear diff, with the Z it was manual trans grind etc etc you get the idea.

But in my experience, I bought into the hype EVERY SINGLE TIME. And you know what happened? Nothing. I owned all those cars, modified the shit out of them, beat them senseless and not one ever broke. And never did I ever get effected by each of the respective "boogie monsters" for each car.

So you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to drive my 3rd gen pro. Im going to modify it. Im going to treat it like a truck. Im not going to fucking worry about it, and most importantly I'm going to enjoy it.

If theres anything I learned about all that, it's that fretting about your vehicle 24/7 just makes you hate it. So when it breaks, fix it. Dont wait by the door for the failure to happen in nervous breakdown anticipation.

Found this short list of 2020 improvements which appear to be bullet points from Toyota. "Recalibrated transmission logic"

The recalibrated transmission logic is clearly incorrect. Either deliberate or accidental misinformation. They better correct it.

I have a 2018 Limited 2x4 and am also seriously considering the 2020 Limited 2x4 once one comes within reach in my vicinity. Currently, only 4x4's.

I enjoyed reading the write up on the 2020 by WZ00R2 and I too have similar issues with my 2018. The dead spot upon flooring the gas pedal I learned the hard way. No more cutting in front of fast cars anymore...for me!!

Speaking of shifting. When I go about 50-51 mph, my truck surges like running out of gas. I brought it to the dealer many times but they say nothing is wrong. Does the 2020 have similar issues around 50mph?

First of all glad all that were involved in the accident are ok. With that out of the way, the look on Karen's face is priceless. Glad you are enjoying your 2020. Like a previous post on here I have a 2019 OR and it shifts fine. I've read the 19's and 20's have the same update. I think it still could be more responsive and may go with the OVTune in the future.
