Lots of threads on this with lots of posts from people that have done the Blackstone tests- including me. I think there is a dedicated thread featuring test results. With typical driving patterns, 10k mile changes on a Tacoma is no problem with full synthetic and a decent filter- the oil still has life based on the TBN result in the report. I change mine 10-11k miles which is once a year.

My last analysis was 9750 miles with a TBN of 3.9; no oil was added between changes. Blackstone said 11.5k change intervals would be no problem

10-12k miles, once per year. Looking to up that number. I still feel like its barely broken in at that point. Might go for 15k next

That seems odd. I am running dino and change it at 5k. I would definitely think Mobil 1 could handle more mileage.

I've been trying out Amazon's synthetic oil (with Toyota OEM filters). Price was cheap and it had good reviews. Lately I've been changing my oil every 5K, but based on the color I know I could probably go longer. Changing the oil at 5K just gives me the reason to check things out on my truck more often than not.

All of you live in states that require some sort of annual or bi-annual vehicle inspection, so you know how annoying they can be. I believe this happened in October 2017, because it happened right before we were supposed to fly somewhere and that's when we went to California for a family reunion. The inspection on my mom's 2013 Nissan Murano SV always expired in September, but with all of the business in my household, September 2017 came and went without us noticing. It was only we'd loaded up the Murano with our luggage and were about to leave that I noticed the expired inspection stickers and told my dad. He had your classic "Oh shit" moment, and then we had to unload the Murano and put all the stuff in my dad's 2013 Honda Pilot Touring. We probably could have made it to the Philly airport without getting stopped by some overzealous ticket-happy state trooper, but my dad didn't want to chance it. When we got back from California, my dad took it

In 2018, I forget where my dad got it inspected...

This year, I got my truck inspected almost a month early because it needed brake work (I still got an October sticker even though I had it done in September). The other night, I happened to glance at the Murano's inspection sticker and noticed that it expired in October 2019. My parents have been super busy, and I knew it would be November before we got it inspected, so I took the liberty of calling the Toyota dealer today.

They obviously inspect non-Toyota used vehicles all the time, and I saw customer's Jeep getting inspected there once; So, the dealer will be inspected my mom's Murano and she will get all my various loyalty discounts!

Having seen some of the vehicles on the road here and the fact 1 out of every 4 cars statistically speaking don’t have insurance I don’t mind them one bit. If my vehicle is in proper order I shouldn’t have a problem

The safety inspections are generally only twenty bucks here (and my Toyota dealer always waives that fee). It's the emissions test I have a problem with, because in PA it costs fifty to sixty bucks, and you're pretty much guaranteed to pass if your check engine light isn't on.

I thought Oregon required emissions testing though?

Look at houses where I live. 500k gets you 3000sqft just outside Portland, my 1100sqft townhome just sold for 575k I bought it for 470k in October 2015. Houses in Oregon are a bargain for me

I have used synthetic since new. I use quality full synthetic oil (Mobil 1,Valvoline, or Penzoil) and a FRAM Ultra Synthetic 3600 filter, I stick to a even 10K odometer change interval, I am at 158K now, it's almost time. Oil is never black, looks pretty clean at drain.

A while ago, I made a thread about the mysterious disappearance of my dad's 1996 Nissan Pathfinder that we traded for the Tacoma (September 2009) after it got repossessed from the second owner (May or June 2010)...

My dad saved the window stickers for three consecutive vehicles he owned (1992 Dodge Dakota LE, 1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer, 1996 Nissan Pathfinder). When I ran the VIN for the Dakota through Carfax back in 2017 or so, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was alive and well in York, Pennsylvania with about 145K on the clock (Again, this was 2 or 3 years ago). My dad traded the Dakota for the Blazer at Lafferty Chevrolet in Warminster, Pennsylvania (about two hours from York), so obviously someone moved.

I ran the Blazer's VIN through Carfax in 2016-2017 as well, and was dismayed to find that it went cold in March 2005. Based on what other TW members have told me about the Pathfinder, my guess would be that the Blazer ended up in a junkyard and was crushed, or the owner parted it out. The two likely scenarios if this is the case would be that the Blazer was wrecked but didn't end up with a salvage title because the owner only had liability insurance and scrapped it, or something expensive broke and the owner scrapped it (It was 12 years old with almost 130K miles on it at the time the trail went cold, so a severe accident or major mechanical failure could have been a death sentence).

This is incorrect; Based on what I’m seeing in this report, it would appear that there four owners including my dad...

My dad only owned the Blazer for three years!
