I completely agree that forums can be helpful. I’m only talking about this forum in particular.

    Ryan,

Just to clarify the point I’m making.

Concerning your last line. If you visit this site regularly without any other prior knowledge about these trucks you would not come away with that impression. Actually you’d think the exact opposite.

I have said as much, but who knows?

More interesting to me are long time members who are well aware of the negative opinions expressed about the 3rd gen, and buy one anyway.

I read one of the TW moderators @MTgirl , just bought a 3rd gen access cab SR5- nice!

We had a '14 that was lemon lawed for oil consumption even after a new short block.

    Went to a '16, and now a '19.

    The wife loves her Foresters.

I was hesitant to trade my 13 jk in. 9 months later, I don’t even think about the Jeep. I’ve owned 5 other trucks and this is by far the best. Complainers gonna complain. Some People will bitch about free ice cream.

Most of the time, the issues are not there until you put a ring on it.

My wife also likes her Foresters. She's got a '17, and I'll admit its great for road trips.

I got a loaner '19 when my '14 was in the shop for its THIRD short block replacement (with less than 21k miles on the car). Sold it after the third one started leaking coolant.

I’ve been a part of many car forums and this one is actually very helpful and tame compared to others. Subaru, Nissan, and bmw forums have so many more people bashing each other and their own cars. I prefer being here.

I would rent a couple for the weekend but I don’t have anyone to share them with because my son is a retard.

You are usually getting a younger version of her mom. The old man is the barometer. Is he happy or beaten down and waiting to die?

Mostly I think the problem is people read about somebody triggered by their transmission or what the fuck ever and start actively looking for problems in theirs. Whether they actually exist or not is often up to personal interpretation. I have a 2017 OR auto trans I bought used a couple months ago and I love that truck, and am honestly puzzled at most of the complaints I hear. Shrugs/ Maybe I just got a unicorn?

I admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of the 3rd gens at first but after a couple of years with most of the kinks worked out I couldn't pass up the year end clearance deals.
