Might be worth the expense to take it to a shop you trust or dare I say a reputable dealer and have them evaluate it front to back. Then make a informed decision from there.

 

Yeah, Like I said. Just looking at options. Not really excited about a payment for 6 more years either so not decided or anything.

 

@MattCowsmasher said it best, it might have some minor issues that need to be dealt with but the peace of mind is definitely worth it. I started to get an icky feeling about my Jeep then I had to replace the motor. Toyota builds a FAR superior product, it’s probably just a feeling.

I didn't get to drive it, only build the engine and experiment with power adders. It was a dyno-queen used for training people.

 

It's fun buildin' screamers with other peoples money. Teaches you how to build your own for a hell of a lot less.

Thanks for all of your guys input. It helps me weigh all my options! I do know my cv boot is tore and it's been like that for a couple years and the guy who worked on it last time said it would be about $500 to do both sides. Something I need to get done soon. There's probably maintenance I never did that needs done. Like transmission fluid I never changed and stuff like that. I've tried to do as much as I can though....

 

If only one side is torn, no reason to replace both unless both are broken. Trust me, I abuse mine and my driver-side CV is original (125k miles).

Fluids are always good to service and can be done quickly and cheaply by yourself.

 

Ever since I tried to get things fixed ahead of time and got my serpentine belt changed, oil changed and full inspection, my crankshaft seal busted afterwards I've been stressed on it more. It's a good truck it just stresses me out to not know if something else is gonna go...

 

Im not sure if the passenger side is bad but maybe he was thinking it was easier to do them both... I'll have to look at the paperwork again and see what it said.

 

Belt and oil are wear/service items and seals go bad. No biggie. If mechanical/electrical components start failing like crazy, then worry.

 

Not even easier. It's literally twice as much work.

Axle and cv are same difference aren't they? I'm such a girl sometimes...

 

The rear is a solid axle, the front is two unequal-length CV axles. Different types of axles front and rear.
