or do you have to buy a role cage separate or is it even really needed?

The Toyota dealer will install one for you. All you have to do is ask especially if you really need it. Tell them you really need a ROLE cage.

    lol

C'mon guys. Give him a break. Judging by his "Location", I'm guessing English isn't his first language.

Anyway, no Stock Roll Cage equipped. You'd have to install that 'after-market' and I'm pretty sure it would take quite an investment. Both in money and time.

While driving the interstate in SD, it started to get a little mist (35-40 degree weather) on the windshield. Mind you, this is during winter.
I slowed in case of freezing rain.
A 4WD Toyota PU passed me and he spun 180, hitting the snow bank alongside of the highway.
Rolled it three times and landed on his wheels.

The truck did have a roll bar mounted in the bed, just behind the cab.

Windshield was knocked out and cab was crushed somewhat but the roll bar saved the cab (and him) from being flattened.

Funny thing is when the driver got out (unhurt) he said "Darn, I just bought this truck an hour ago."

Moral is slow down for the road conditions.
4WD is great for getting through snow but you'll still slide all over when driving on ice.

It's almost worse. Hard to tell how slippery it is till it's too late. Because people think they have grip they drive way to fast.
