These were done about a year apart...

So I went here first and they said these things

Then I went here and he did work and a full inspection and he said all was good except this

Ok, good to know. So maybe 250 to fix one side then I'm assuming? Seem like too much or about right?

That last one says boots, so maybe both need replacement. Honestly you could just have the boots replaced and the CV joint re-greased, but our trucks generally will continue to leak grease with a replacement boot.

Sounds like you need to clean your K&N filter and replace a boot/CV axle or two. Both are easy, but the axle replacement is a little labor intensive. $180-250 sounds about right for a shop to replace one.

This is what a torn boot looks like:

    Thanks, Maner. :fistbump:

The filter I cleaned and oiled myself ( thanks YouTube) lol but it may be time to do it again...and my boot is way worse from what I remember! I'll have to snap a pic of them again... the guy who worked on it last time seemed good but I worry he overworks himself and is really tired so I worry about mistakes. But it may have just been that period of time he was working on mine. He owns the 4x4 shop and it's him and his wife and another hired helper so I like that they're a local shop that's not too commercialized and they have cut me deals with stuff I believe.

If he's any good he can get both axles swapped in a couple hours in a full service shop. I'd like to see pictures of said CV boots lol

I see nothing serious as Josh stated a boot is a quick fix as long as it’s greased good. If you can swing it I’d just go ahead and replace it for peace of mind. The carrier bearing can be replaced fairly easy as well and the parts themselves are not terribly pricey.
I know you stated your brother usually helps you try to coordinate a day with him and bribe him with food/beer. As for acquiring the parts I’m sure we can help you with that.
If your truck isn’t making any weird noises or Vibes just ride with it but with winter coming up I’d address the CV first.

Well their repair department is always pretty busy just like the others.

Tacos are great vehicles but I’m the type now that I keep a vehicle with a factory or factory extended warranty. Stupid crap can break and cost ya an arm and a leg.

If you worry about driving it then it’s probably time to replace. There is a lot to be said about peace of mind.

No there's one sound I hear at higher speeds and all it reminds me of is when I had a belt shred, the little shreds were making a noise but it's very faint and I don't know how else to explain it. It's a lite clicking maybe?

From the front? Sounds like the cv they will do that or maybe a wheel hub assembly.

I wish I could get it repainted thre indigo, love the color but there's so many scratches, I hate it and the big scratch on the rear tailgate that it had when I got it.... I wish I could've gotten it brand new but I got it at 98,000 miles and no idea about the past owners.
