Is my front end low, or back end high?

I'm wondering what everyone else's height difference is between the front and back. My rear is at 37" and my front is at 34" from the ground to the wheel well. A 3" rake seems like a lot. I'll be putting 5100s all around with an icon AAL expansion pack that raises the rear 1.5". I'm trying to find out which setting to put the 5100s in the front to level it out. I have a 2012 dclb 4x4 sport with 265/65/r17 tires.

You need to measure ground to frame.

So I went out and measured the frame under the cab because that seemed the most flat. Is there another place I'm not seeing? But the front is 13 1/4" and the rear is 14 1/4". So my truck only has a 1" rake?

    No, 1” is not right.

Measure from the center of hub straight up to the fender.
Use a plumb bob if you need to help staying vertical.

Center of hub is much more accurate.
You eliminate tire variables and are measuring the fender to tire gap.
Which is essentially what you are really looking to measure.

Okay so I'm getting 2 1/2" rake now. Does that mean when I add the 5100s on the top ring it will be level? My understanding is that I'll need a 1.5" lift in the rear to use the top ring on the shocks.

The rear 5100s don't adjust. So if you want it level and currently have a 2.5 inch rake, you want only the 5100s, no AAL, and set the coilovers at the top notch with the factory springs. I'd just measure a few times before you decide what to set them to, and make sure it's on level ground.

2 1/2 inch rake is good man. That's how a truck is supposed to look. You don't want to be squatting when you put a little weight in the back.

Okay that makes me feel better haha so my rake should be 1.5" after everything is installed. I think that will look good. Thanks for the help guys!

I put the 5100’s adjustables on the front on the third notch and it is damn near level Mabey a 1/4 from front to rear. The top notch witch i only read on here will give you a very stiff ride.

LOL, explain how that's "more" accurate.

Each truck is different. 2.5” seems a lot not to say that’s not correct. I did a 3/2 on my 2015 and it’s level so it had 1” of rake

These trucks come stock with 2 inches of rake. If you are at 1.5 after your install you're perfect. No need for it to be completely leveled. Will only look stupid when you're hauling something and driving around with a squatting truck

All of that would matter if he were asking about tire clearance/rubbing issues. He's not. He asked about height of the front/rear end. Ground to frame gives you comparable measurements for the front and back, hub to fender doesn't because they are not the same.

Not sure how you can even measure properly from ground to frame
Agree with this but ground to fender can give you overall lift value if you are comparing stock lift/tires with after lift/tire package install which is what most of us do when we lift.

I understand what you are saying.
And I’m not saying you are wrong.
But not all frames are straight.
And not all suspension parts bolt to the frame on and even plane.
There for it is possible to have a level frame to ground measurement.
Yet still have drop or rake.

It minimizes the variables that one would need to take into account when measuring?
