In the last few weeks my steering wheel has started to disintegrate and it is driving me nuts. Both sides of the wheel where my has are generally the wheel has become rough and losing material by the day. I have read other forms and the general answer is replace the steering wheel or get a cheap steering wheel cover. Looking to TacomaWorld to help me out is there anything out there that looks stock? I have been looking into Wheelskins, and any wondering if anyone has had any success.

I could foresee the sun destroying my steering wheel one day so I bought a cover from Amazon years ago. Lucky me it matched speedway blue. I don’t recall the brand though but it’s holding up great.

Definitely a fan of wheel skins. Put one on my wife’s old Jeep Grand Cherokee and currently have one on my old dodge truck. Install is pretty easy but you just have to take your time. If I ever do another one I want to try a baseball stitch but haven’t done any research on how to do that.

I think I will have to try one out. The install video I watched it didn't look very good but it was a terrible maroon colour so that may have had something to do with it.

I actually just put a wheel skins on last weekend. I get anal (figuratively and literally) and spent almost 3 hours installing it. Still didn’t get it exactly how I’d like but it looks good color wise and my girl says it looks great overall.
If you wanna spend big bucks vivid racing modifies our wheel rings and basically makes a whole new wheel.

The loncky cover from Amazon has worked well for me. Install sucks but if you take your time and do it properly it looks and feels great.

How expensive would a new steering wheel be?

I have a wheelskins that i installed over the summer. I'm happy with it, but it was a major p.i.t.a to install, at least for me. Give yourself plenty of time, because you can't rush it. The finished product is high quality and definitely looks stock. 20190812_192848.jpg

i sprained my left ankle and couldn't drive my MT so had to do something. so i sat in the truck and stitched for 5-6 hours. it does take a bit of time but it's not bad. results are fantastic. if i had the patience to do it again it would be perfect (learn the handling and stitching), but this is enough for me. in the last pic the looseness has tightened right up as it dried and the contact cement gripped. no newer pics atm. any q's let me know. iirc Lonckey charges around $50 for this. Looks like there is a ton of options on AliExpress, you wouldn't still have the link to the one you bought would you? The Loncky and Wheelskins are nice but tough to get in Canada, but the time you pay duty and ship them from the States they get pretty pricey.

The TRD steering wheel is so nice. The stock one is already rubbing off, looking old.

Wheelskins! I have this one on my Tacoma and Legacy. Make sure to get the original version like this above, has only one seem to deal with. Take your time with the install and make sure to pull the lace through tight.

I just installed a leather sew on cover I got from Amazon for $11. It took about an hour to put on but it was worth it.
