1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

Welcome to the club brother. Anyone who's had a 1st Gen Tacoma, for any amount of time, has had to replace a handle.. or 2... or 3.

 

i cannot wait until my stuff needs removed, i just know i will whine whine whine

is that tool plastic or metal?

 

22.5 years still no handle broken yet knock on the wood right!

and they get all frozen over here too extra dangerous!

 

Yeah, it bugged me not having extra clips for my door panels when I pulled off the panel and broke some.

The tool is metal, with a plastic handle. It's been really handle for a lot of other that needed prying.

 

Holy crap... That's got to be a record. I'm on my 3rd or 4th passenger front and 2nd driver front.

 

plastic tips? so nothing gets scratched accidentally?

 

I do hope it's something stupid like the little plastic clip/ring that clips over the metal rod that came undone.

I was really careful taking it off and putting it back on during my speaker replacement, but maybe having removed it made it weak?

 

When I was afraid of scratching something, painters tape on the tip helps.

 

For a good while I had legit anxiety over opening my doors lol. To this day I'm still more careful with it than I was before I broke a few of them.

Was afraid one day I'd break one then go to the other side and break that one too, then I'd be well and truly fucked

 

@1997tacomav6 have you ever had a broken door handle?

 

it could be a function of use though! i am often on the highway for miles and miles, never getting out except to stretch, take a piss, fuel up

 

I had 3 sons that grew up riding in my truck. I'm absolutely positive that's why I've gone through so many more passenger side handles.

Thankfully they are all grown and they can fuck up their own door handles now.

2 of the 3 of them have Tacomas btw lol

 

i reckon you have never had a nice glazed sheet of ice from freezing drizzle coating them lol

Actually the first one I broke was because it was frozen. Was camping up in Big Bear during the winter and the handle plastic cracked due to the freeze.
