    Yeah.
Not an attorney, and all states are different, some more different than others. But here's my take.

You failed to yield right of way. Your opinion on the speed of the other driver is irrelevant unless provable in some way. It doesn't sound like you got any video evidence or witness names and statements. You were driving without insurance, so hiring a lawyer to pursue that line of thinking is probably not advisable or in the cards anyway.

So, you are responsible for all damages to both vehicles. Now, the only way to wiggle out of paying for damages of the other vehicle is if the driver was not the owner and was driving it without the owner's permission, in which case it was a stolen vehicle and the owner's insurance should cover it.

As for your truck, looks mostly cosmetic to me and a lot of that can be bent back into usable shape. Check RockAuto for a bumper cover, get some color-matched rattle can paint and spray it -- white is easy peasy.

This makes sense. Also, your new insurance may not cover a damaged vehicle that wasn’t made right—imagine if you had another surprise collision and this time it was with a pedestrian, and you don’t have the proper bumper that reduces injury to the ped.... Also, make sure you’ve gotten a handle on the financial aspects before keeping/driving the vehicle. Get rid of your smart phone for a year (if you have one), ride a bike to work instead of eating $4 gas, etc. Doing the right thing will be expensive and...still be the right thing.

I started off today with wanting to push my lunch back later into the afternoon so I could swing by this local coffee place that's donating it's profits from 2-5 to a local special needs school that's run by a friend of mine. I knew I'd be hungry, but I've forgotten all about that.

Thanks for the laughs. Sorry 'bout...all that

What did you expect???? You have an accident and then say you have expired insurance?? Why are you driving a semi new truck without insurance? Did you steal it? Did you have it given to you? Was it bought for you by someone who knew you couldn't afford insurance???
