My TPMS first thing this morning after a 30 degree drop in temperature overnight. Anyone know why my TPMS is flagging just one tire out of three with the same listed pressure? I normally keep them at 34-35 and know I will have to adjust for colder weather, I’m curious as to whether only one tire showing as being flagged is a “Toyota says this is normal” thing or if I need my TPMS serviced.

I believe that the warning threshold is different for each tire. Try doing the reset (holding the dash button for several seconds) then drive around. This should reset the threshold for the current pressures.

Mine recently flagged two tires as low but one at the same pressure as not. I think there are two things going on: the sensor is more precise than the readout, and each sensor can be set to a different minimum.

I dunno how we'd confirm it though.

Yep. The sensors read to freaking 0.01psi and also measure temperature.

TechStream tells all, including the thresholds.

I can understand front / back being different. Both backs read at 30, and they both showed 29 when I first started up, with just the one being yellow. Not a big deal, I’m one of those people who would be happy without the whole system.

Yes. But with rounding and what the particular thresholds are, I can see it getting confused.

I can also see your side of it being an extra gizmo. I generally don't like gizmo creep but do like the TPMS. Well, except when aired down and even the reset button doesn't help.

OMG, its a rounding thing. LR might be 30.2, RR might be 29.8 so is flagged low. But is rounded up to show 30 on display.
Noting is wrong. Adjust air with accurate gauge be done with it.

At least you didn't have to deal with f'n Bountygate... What a joke! I mean, what well respected coach hasn't told his players to kill the other team?! The money part was just an incentive, because who kills people for free?!

Easy killer. The tires showed 29 and only one was yellow. Then 30 and still one yellow. So the cutoff wasn’t 29. Or 30. It’s just not an accurate system. Just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this.
