    Spent some time cleaning the canoe and putting it all together. A few of the aluminum ribs are broken but majority are there and still good. Going to sand it down, check for leaks and repaint it soon. Also going to make some seats (found some online for it but they're like $50)

    Most canoe manufacturers have replacement parts available. From spars to gunnels to appliqués. Michi-Craft went out of business years ago but another manufacturer bought them and they still make replacement parts. That’s great news for me. I tend to break shit on a regular basis.

    <begin rant>

    I just had the most unproductive lunchtime shopping experience...

    While at work I went online to check which local stores had the item I was looking for, by going to their websites and checking by zip-code.
    First I went to retailer#1 (let's just call this store 'Red Circle And Dot'). The price online (and in-store) for the twin-pack I was there for was $46.99. The website suggested the specific location I go to, and when I get there, the shelf is empty. I find an employee and ask if there is any other location in the store for the item to be, and he takes me to an end-cap that might. Nope, zero of said item for me to purchase in either location. He scanned the barcode and suggested I drive to a different location, because they have 13 on hand. I ask how many his app shows he has on hand in the store we're standing in, and he says 7. I inform him that I don't trust either number, and wasted a trip to their store. ...not that he cares in the least.

    In the parking lot of Red Circle And Dot, I check the website of retailer#2 (we'll refer to it as 'Aid Rite') in search for the same item.
    The Aid Rite location nearest to me shows in stock, and $24.99/ea; a little more expensive than Red Circle And Dot's pricing, but oh well... I find the item on the shelf, but the price tag shows $33.99. I take it to the register, assuming their shelf pricing wasn't updated, just to find out that the online prices are different than in-store prices, and it's their policy to not price-match their own website. The difference between their online price and their in-store price would end up costing me an extra $18 (+ CA's cut)

    My intention was to purchase two of these, so it made no difference to me if it was two individually packaged items, or a twin-pack.

    Is it just me, or are more and more brick-and-mortar stores not operating under the same rules and/or pricing structure that their official website is?
    At Red Circle And Dot, the kid suggested I call for a quantity-on-hand check; is that not what the quantity-on-hand option on the website is for? If not, why bother checking by zip-code or giving GPS permission to the app/website?

    FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    <end rant>

    I think new HU will be my Christmas present to me. Now that we got the new house and sold the other, I'm replacing all my failing tech in order of life priority. Just got a new phone, just got a new laptop, and replacing this is next LOL.

    Yeah I was able to find a site that sells a bunch of parts for this one. It's a sportspal i guess. Found the outline from the original paint/sticker it had. I dont even know what a spar or gunnel is but I'm slowly figuring it all out lol. Canoe. Ribs. Foamy mat thingy. That's my vocab so far haha

    I was thinking I'd carefully secure it to my receiver with a long, small-diameter cable and then drive down the Rubicon. Why?
